cannot say enough about the U.S. Army and Marines who are carrying most of the fight for us in Iraq. They are courageous, smart, effective, innovative, very honorable and very proud. After a Thanksgiving meal with a great group of Marines at Camp Fallujah in western Iraq, I asked their commander whether the morale of his troops had been hurt by the growing public dissent in America over the war in Iraq. His answer was insightful, instructive and inspirational: "I would guess that if the opposition and division at home go on a lot longer and get a lot deeper it might have some effect, but, Senator, my Marines are motivated by their devotion to each other and the cause, not by political debates." Thank you, General. That is a powerful, needed message for the rest of America and its political leadership at this critical moment in our nation's history. Semper Fi.
Mr. Lieberman is a Democratic senator from Connecticut.

For this thread I, especially, like this one.
I was very proud of ole Joe today.
That took conviction, and courage.
Not for long I'm thinking.

Zell had his come-to-Jesus moment when the Department of Homeland Security was formed. Libs from his party were stalling the creation of DHS because they wanted DHS unionized, and the original plan was for no unions. Miller has said several times that at that moment, he realized that his party did not have the best interests of the United States at heart, only their own power.
Perhaps Lieberman is having a similar epiphany.
'He might have beaten Bush last year'
could never happen - short stature is no longer acceptable in a POTUS for the media-driven masses....gotta be cute and tall and he is neither.
Now...THAT is absolutely perfect!
"After his actions in trying to disenfranchise military absentee voters during the 2000 election fiasco in Florida, I respectfully disagree. I will not forget those days."
Yes. I agree. It is refreshing to see anyone in the democratic party ACTUALLY defending America, but I am also extremely leary about why. Is it anything that can even be considered as being true, or are they just going fishing and trying to reel people in on their poisonous fishook? Sad to say, but Mr. Lieberman was only being used to get the Jewish vote when running as Gore's V.P. Is that same scenario occurring here?
"he at the very least supports the soldiers of his own country "
My Lord, if this were only true. I do believe this is the same Joe Lieberman who in 2000 was gleefully tossing out the military VOTES.
I appreciate that he went to Iraq to eat turkey with the troops, but it is so hard for me, a veteran, to forget how he dishonored the vote of the military.
Maybe we can use him and his support for Iraq, but trust him? I think not.
Just curious - how did he vote on ANWR? Did he vote for or against the filibuster? Anyone know?
Like I said...ATM. At the moment.
