All I want for Christmas is...........

Black and White Santa

We Support Our Troops!!!!  Thank you for your service!!!

Let's hear what YOU want for Christmas this year. If you don't celebrate Christmas, we'd still love to hear what new toy, gadget, gizmo, or whatchamacallit you'd like to have.  If you don't know, Gummy  has some ideas for you!! Just look below.  Some of our Canteeners have offered suggestions, too.

      HiJinx

  • Okay, at the top of my political wish list is Zarqawi's head on a spike.
  • At the top of my tech wish list is a top of the line 19" LCD monitor.
  • At the top of my personal wish list is the 501(c)3 designation/approval for Proud Patriots!
  • (Gummy  knows she heard HiJinx wishing for a new house!! She whispered it in Santa's ear!)

     Apackof2       Wilderness Protection - Model 329PD Revolver - HIVIZ®

     Diva Betsy Ross
  • The troops to come home with a mission completed
  • MoJo to call me everyday (hehe)
  • hand held GPS for geocaching with the kids
  • Coach bag named "Hampton's Weekend"-(black with black strap)
  • New dishwasher
  • Horse shoes set. :]

     beachn4fun
  • Our military to come home safelyBeach Scene
  • My sons and their family to be happy
  • To be a FReeper forever
  • Mr. Beachy and I to have a piece of property like this:

Hot items for Christmas

The all-solid-state iPod nano ($199 and $249) is a top on the list. Not much bigger than a pack of gum, it holds hundreds of songs - 500 for the 2GB $199 model, 1,000 for the 4GB, $249 version - plus thousands of photo stills, which look fine on nano's color screen

According to a study by the Consumer Electronics Association many will settle for  a super-slim, flat-panel, high-definition-ready TV.

Digital still cameras are another category where less buys more this year.

Sennheiser cordless headphones, which transmit hi-fi-quality audio signals on the 900 MegaHertz frequency band, let the user roam around the house enjoying the music or a TV soundtrack while others sleep in peace.

GN Netcom's GN 6210, the first wireless Bluetooth headset that works seamlessly with office and mobile phones. The base station charges the headset and makes any office phone Bluetooth-capable.

Sony's PlayStation Portable game console, which made its U.S. debut in March, is facing its first official holiday shopping season. Since it first hit the market, more than 2 million units have been sold in the U.S., according to Sony. (Click here to read CNET's review)

Unless you've been living under a rock for the last few weeks, you've heard about Microsoft's Xbox 360, the first of the next-generation game consoles to reach shelves.

According to CNET, the new box is expected to be a big hit for its power, as well as its improved controls and graphics.

Free Shipping Offered by Many Online Companies

Target Corp. is offering free shipping for sales through the end of today (Monday), while J.C. Penney Co. Inc. will ship free for sales above $25.

Circuit City Stores Inc. will run five-hour Internet specials throughout the season for shoppers who use lunch breaks to shop.

L.L. Bean has free shipping for holiday purchases

Macys.com has instituted free shipping for purchases of $125 or more

eToys.com is offering free standard shipping on approximately 500 selected items.

Online jeweler Blue Nile
ensures gifts purchased before 3 p.m. EST on December 22 will be shipped free and arrive in time for Christmas.

Toys R Us Inc. offers free shipping on purchases $49.99 or more and buy-one-get-one-free promotions

Godiva.com is giving away $32 in truffles for every $100 spent.

Hi-tech Gifts for Kids...

Buy electronics now. Wait to buy clothing. The hottest electronic items sell out and manufacturers just can't make enough to get back on the shelves before the holidays. But if you're looking to buy clothing, wait. It will continue to be marked down closer to the holidays, and you don't have to worry about it selling out. Industry experts say retailers are going to make markdowns earlier than last season because they hope to get shoppers buying before they get hit with their first big winter heating bill.

Portable PCs for Less

Wal-Mart features a Hewlett-Packard $398 laptop with a 2800+ Sempron processor from Advanced Micro Devices, 256MB of memory, a 40GB hard drive, a CD-RW/DVD drive and a 15-inch screen. Wal-Mart is also selling a $398 desktop with a 3000+ Sempron, 512MB of memory, a 40GB drive and a 15-inch LCD monitor.

Best Buy is countering Wal-Mart's offer by selling a Toshiba L25-S1192 laptop with an Intel Celeron M 370 processor with 256MB of memory, 40GB hard disk drive and wireless capabilities for $379.99.

CompUSA offers a Compaq Presario notebook featuring an AMD Sempron Processor 2800+ 256L2 cache 40GB hard drive for $299. Originally offered for $729.99, the discount takes effect after manufacturer and retailer rebates, as well as a 12-month subscription to AOL.

Demand for laptops is reaching record levels. IDC predicts that 12-inch ultra-portables and 14-inch and 15-inch wide-screen displays will fuel 62.5 million in notebook shipments this year.(Click here to read CNET's portable-PC roundup.)

Accident Or Design?

Read:
Romans 1:18-20

The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork. —Psalm 19:1

Bible In One Year: 2 Corinthians 10-13

cover The Bible opens with this magnificent statement: "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth" (Genesis 1:1). How simple those words are and yet how fathomless!

Dyson Freeman, one of today's most brilliant scientists, writes that nature's laws are marked by "the greatest mathematical simplicity and beauty."

While I am not a scientist or a mathematician, I am intrigued by this statement. If there is no Designer—no Creator God—how is it that our universe can be a law-abiding system marked by beauty and simplicity? I wonder, why isn't our universe in chaos?

The only reasonable explanation to me is the God of the Bible. As it says in Romans 1:20, "Since the creation of the world [God's] invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that [we] are without excuse."

If it's only the reality of God's existence that explains the whole universe, that must also be true of our lives. We are not accidents but creatures designed by a Maker of limitless power and wisdom. Look for Him in what He has designed—you'll see Him there. —Vernon Grounds

So much about His character
God wanted to impart;
Creation shows His handiwork—
His Son reveals His heart. —Hess

The design of creation points to the Master Designer.

Thank You for today's thread.
All I want for Christmas is that our men and women,
in the military, not be forgotten at home or abroad.

"This is from me to those that have not written yet, please write, use it,
tell about your family, your hobbies, how the weather is, what are you planning for the weekend.
Tell a funny thing that happened, send a joke anything. Tell about your pets and kids.
We miss home and it means a lot to hear from everyone."

From a US Marine's e-mail

Will You help keep the Candle Lit for our service men and women?
Can you spare a few moments today to either
e-mail them or learn about sending packages to them?
Many of them are away from home for the 1st time.
PLEASE Click on the graphic and help cheer them up.
You will stay right where you are on this thread while you write them.
Thank You
