Saddam berates judge over prison treatment

The former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein has chastised the presiding judge at his trial over alleged ill-treatment at the hands of his guards.

His trial on charges relating to a Shiite massacre in 1982 has been adjouned until December 5.

Wearing a white shirt and dark suit, Saddam berated chief judge Rizgar Amin over his treatment at the high-security court.

The former dictator complained that his guards had forced him to walk to court up four flights of stairs, and had handcuffed him, making it hard for him to carry a copy of the Koran.

The court also heard video evidence from a prosecution witness who has since died of cancer.

The court watched video testimony from Waddah al-Sheikh, recorded just before the former Iraqi intelligence officer died.

Sheikh described how Saddam's agents rounded up 400 Shiite men, women and children from the village of Dujail in retaliation for a failed assassination attempt on the then president.

The trial has been adjourned until next week.

Dear me. How sad...

Mass murder of men, women and children is far more civilized...

Well, the judge should have ordered the guards to kick him down four flights of stairs [handcuffed] on the way back.

"The former dictator complained that his guards had forced him to walk to court up four flights of stairs, and had handcuffed him, making it hard for him to carry a copy of the Koran."

LMAO!! As opposed to the prison treatment he afforded his prisoners: nails driven into their skulls, being forced to watch their wives and daughters raped, men being run over under tank treads, etc. Yeah Saddam, you're the expert on humanitarian treatment aren't you pal??! Oh wait, I'm showing disrespect to the Democrats' idol, the man who was "never a threat to anyone," "never a threat to the US," "never had WMD," "never worked with terrorists," etc. Forgive me.

Did any of you hear the prosecuter on the Saddam case tear into Ramsey Clark???

They had it on Fox News. The man was wonderful. He asked where Ramsey Clark was when the people of Iraq were being butchered by Saddam. At the end of the interview he said Ramsey Clark should go away, stop meddling and leave the Iraqi people to deal with this case.

Thanks for that I had not heard this. I wish he would lay the wood to Saddam and tell him that he's going to gag him if he doesn't shut the f**k up.

What we have here is.....failure to communicate.

You bitch about the guards and the treatment they so kindly give you...You get a night in the box!
