it is the pay they refuse to work

Several years ago a federal law was enforced paper wise which required that an applicant had to show a social security card - the original, not a copy, nor could it be laminated. They also had to have a photo id issued by the state or federal government. Then he/she signed it as being true and the person hiring them also had to sign it as a witness to having viewed the documents. If those required documents were not kosher, the employer who signed the paperwork was subject to a $10,000 fine and/or jail time. FEDERAL LAW that is already in place but is it enforced?

No, Americans are not lazy and I did not say they were. I said the young Americans who turn down the work/pay rate that I was speaking of have not bought into a work ethic yet. However, they want to start out with the luxuries that their parents worked for years to attain. In the meantime, the Mexicans - legal or otherwise - are happy to take these jobs. So when all is said, you don't have an answer either, do you?

"Three, get rid of the time limit on how long a illegal can be held if their home country does not take them back, in other words, hold them indefinitely if necessary."

SCOTUS already did that when they ruled we no longer have to ASK a host nation's PERMISSION to return their OWN citizens back to them.

LMAO, even IF he could run in 08, the vote I cast for him in 04 would be replaced with one for Tom Tancredo in 08...even if I have to write it in.

the largest protion of our economy is service based. Something that people like you call 'unskilled' and 'entry level'.

You have no clue whatsoever, do you? I will tend to remember you that way.

Many facets to an approach is great. Enforcement is going to be the problem. If it's giving money, that is easier because the money is turned off at the tap.

If it's holding employers to account, then please let's change the laws to allow employers to question the ID more aggressively. An employer presented with what appears to be a valid certified birth certificate and social security number has to accept it and can't question it. If they get dinged when filing withholding with the IRS (also incurring a fine) then they go back to employee. Employee gives new birth certificate and social security. Employer (even a small employer) is not allowed to question it even if it is a totally different name. This is a story that you won't hear when people get mad about illegal immigration and want to blame the employers.

If employers can question, then okay. I'm not wild about passing the liability onto the employer, but at least you give the employer something that he is allowed to do to prevent getting into trouble.

Don't laugh. So far no one has tossed out the ubiquitous "landmine" suggestion out, but you know some moron is bound to do it before the thread is over.

They have been constructing pretty good barriers near some of the Ports of Entry that have a lot of illegals that simply walk/run around the legal entry port. I understand they plan to expand that construction to other POEs, but don't they understand- unless the barrier is the whole entire length of the border the illegals will just keep going around the barriers?? I guess they really don't get it.

Paul, please explain how these new promises are going to work in light of the fact that we'll be legalizing the illegals already here, and just about anyone else who wants to come here will be able to with a nice new shiney work permit.

...tell me again why I should do that job for you to take more than that as a dividend or a 'managment' positions pay package.

Presumably because 1) you need money, and 2) you aren't qualified to do management.

If you are qualified to do management work, do so. If not, do what work you can find at the best rate you can find. But only a fool refuses a job because he's envious of management.

Lets just have us all take stock dividends....OOOPS then noone will be DOING anything to create the profits that pay those dividendss to BEGIN WITH.

More mindless drivel. The vast majority of stock holders work full time jobs. It is VERY rare for a stockholder to sit on his butt and live off of his stocks.

But let's suppose he does - how does that hurt you? You are working at a wage you are willing to accept. If you aren't content with your wage, find other work or study at night to improve your odds of finding other work. Take responsibility for your own life instead of whining because some people have more.

The ten thousand dollar penalties are opposed in court with their defense being they have no reliable way to tell if their documents are forgeries.....that is one HUGE issue that Prop 200 in Arizona solved. It put the responsiblity for checking on the officials in local and state government to INSURE the documents are REAL(to the tune of JAIL TIME i might add).....this needs to be applied to business also.

I showed the the very escence of work ethic with my example sir. Dollar earned for time worked. You seem to think that the younguns need to forfiet that fair minded idea to transfer profits to the older folks that have the stocks.

Who is the socialist here???

I do have the answer. Close the borders with military force as needed. Yank business licenses for all those shown to hire ILLEGAL workers. Real ID is part of this effort. Along with the ability of law enforcement and employers to ask to see that ID for verification purposes. Walls like those in Israel need built. A change in the interpratation of the 14th to make it clear that illegal people having children in the USA does not imply or grant citizenship, now or later on. Noone without valid USA Identification will be granted access to any type of public facilities...that means water supplies, that means parks, that means WELFARE, that means healthcare, that means EVERYTHING.

Free market is the answer for wages. A level playing field with the illegal labor force removed is prudent.

It really is this simple. Labor shows what they create in dollars and show why they are not being compensated properly for that labor. As a part of that negotiation employers show where the profits are going to justify the wages they offer. If they refuse to up the wages, with no illegal workforce to draw from, then NO LABOR is created at all and the profits they were trying to reap are gone alltogether. They will not even think of that option and thus wages for labor will rise.

Everyone that works deserves what it is they worked for sir. There is NO deeper work ethic than earning what it is you collect. Can you offer one?

I'll be honest. I won't be satisfied until they close the borders -- building a fence from California all the way to Texas would be a good start. If they come in legally, fine, illegally -- no way -- get them the heck out!

Dream on. There isn't going to be a fence from CA to TX, and it's nothing short of laughable to honestly expect one to be built.

If they come here then learn English and fully assimilate into our society... no more ballots printed in multiple languages, no more forcing teachers to teach in Spanish (as in Dallas, TX)... I could go on.

You know that's the amazing thing about my state. Here in Texas, we've gotten along fine side, by side, and only the occasional bigot demands that hispancis anglicize. For those that don't like it, Texas has busses heading in all directions out of state 24 hours a day.

I bet Mccain threw a tantrum when Prop 200 passed and then threw another when the 9th circuit refused to knock it down.

Thanks to you Arizona folks for speaking up, I believe that the passsage of Prop 200 is a major step forward.

"I also want to burn their employers as well!"

You are right-on. If the employers are properly sanctioned it would take incentive away from illegals to come here in the first place.

I do not wish to lay all the responsibilit on employers and not give them the tools they need to do what I ask them to do. I support a national ID that will KILL most of problems surrounding this issue.

When a forged document is presented then employment ability is nullified. imho.
