They say better late than never but......
I agree with ya'll and am comforted by your logical support.
GWB said nothing new. Watching Dobbs who said his crowd was carefully selected. Whoever did the selecting did not do a very good job as evidenced by the luke warm reactions.
He is ignoring his constitutional obligation to protect our borders. Is he the president of the US or Mexico?
You could practically hear the groan and feet shuffling when he said "Jobs Americans won't do".
Jim Gilchrist, Minuteman founder, from California, is running for Congress.

I guess I heard wrong. The press release from the White House doesn't specify it.

He's in a very high stakes gamble with the lives of many Americans and his Presidency.
What are you, a communist? Who in the hell do you think OWNS those stocks - it is about half of all Americans. In fact, for about $50/month, YOU could become one of those 'suits' who live on the gravy from their stock holdings. Well, maybe most of us don't live off of our stock holdings - but a heck of a lot of retirees get income from stock holdings, and I take the risks involved in putting money into the stock market in HOPE of getting higher returns - HOPE, since there is no guarantee.
I've worked for minimum wage collecting sheep piss. As with every other job I've worked, I cared less about what stockholders made than what I made.
Kindly take you class envy drivel to DU where it is at home.
Ok spectre. Lets have a go at this.
I am going to hire you to perform a task for me for 400 bucks a week. This task requires you to be out in the hot sun all day without any shade. There are no bathrooms, you get on 30 minute break in a ten hour shift.
Now, during a week of performing this task you present me with 100 units per hour, times ten hours, times five days....this comes out to 5000 units for 400 bucks. I take and sell each of these units for two bucks. This time you can do the math and see why people refuse to do this job.
Mechanics do no fix your car for 8%. Doctors don't care for you for that. Heck man, the IRS doesn't even settle for that!!!!! It isn't the job that people refuse, it is the wages when combined with working conditions and the fact that their labor is being vastly UNDERPAID when you take a look at the profits taken by others involved.
"You could practically hear the groan and feet shuffling when he said 'Jobs Americans won't do.'"
It went over like a lead balloon.
What I always enjoy watching in any presidential speech (no matter who is president) is the handpicked Greek chorus in the background that is always supposed to act on cue. This time, these folks werent exactly enthusiastic either.
" Of course you are a little OLDER now : )
When you go back & listen to the first two minutes I'm sure you will catch the part about eliminating the anchor babies. It must be in there - I'm sure. [/sarcasm]
Oh that's okay. I wasn't trying to quibble with you. Take care.
This Guest Worker thing is an insult - Like they think they can pass it off as real enforcement. BS
Nope, and from the lackluster applause he received, I don't think the audience was fooled either.
President Bush seems to think that they will go back home when the permit runs out. I disagree.
But lets be honest, President Bush has come a lot further to the right on this issue in the last year than we expected.
LMAO @ communist. DUDE I advocate for the free market and you come up with communist? HA try again.
Lets just have us all take stock dividends....OOOPS then noone will be DOING anything to create the profits that pay those dividendss to BEGIN WITH.
Take your DU crap to your own bank partner cuz that check doesn't cash at mine.
I never said stockholders shouldn't get a profit for their risk of investing....but you sure took it that way. You are the on arguing one side or the other....the calls warfare that cen be found there at DU...so maybe it is YOU that should go post there.
Take a look at the post I did about 5000 units and 400 bucks.......tell me again why I should do that job for you to take more than that as a dividend or a 'managment' positions pay package.
No problem. Thanks.
I don't think he will ever apologize to the Minutemen, though he should. They are the ones who brought this attention to the border problems, so they can be proud of their effort in any case.
I think W found out today that this migrant worker plan isn't going to fly. People are not going to accept the politics of old on this issue any longer. I hope he heard that thunderous silence loud and clear.
"Illegal Immigration has been a problem since '00.."
It's been a problem for a lot longer than that. At least since the Immigration Reform Act of '86. But it is a problem that should have been solved on 9/12/01, I'll give you that as a big Bush failure.
And the part about putting troops on the border, or building a real border barrier along the entire border, or ensuring that all criminal invaders must return to their home countries in order to apply for temporary worker status, or the use of aerostats like the one flying over Sierra Vista, AZ to enforce the border and not just airborne drug smugglers. I missed those too. Oh, and using RICO statutes to prosecute those businesses who conspire to illegally hire criminal invaders.
