Geraldine Ferraro on with John -- border control is not an issue "with the American People." After all the Pew Poll list this 2nd to last.

Don't know what I hate to hear most .... the Pew Poll or ... what the American people want, or say, or feel, or ..... I'm that American person and in most, if not all, cases .. they are not speaking about my thoughts. Solution ... just say "that is how I (they) feel".

While congress is cutting Medicaid in their budget they are putting even more back on the backs of the states since these illegals are a huge sponge on our medicaid system... therefore, IMHO, it behooves Congress to get tough on immigration if they are going to cut that in the budget. They already estimate every resident in the State of AZ pays $700 a year to support illegal aliens... and California is even higher. Not sure what it is in Texas or New Mexico, but imagine it's comparable.

Too many sons of blue collar working families won't do the jobs that their fathers did with honor and pride. It's either too hot or too cold or too dirty or too boring or they're expected to show up for work every day. They're into immediate gratification - a fault of our society."

And do you think that this generation of Mexican immigrants is going to want their own children to pick fruit?

No. They will educate them in our schools, and a new wave of Mexican immigrants will enter our country to take their place in the fields and orchards. The cycle will never end.

I will bring up Iraq. W has NO PROBLEM publicly calling on Syria and Iran to respect Iraq's borders.....where is the public call for Mexico to respect OUR border? Why will he do one and not the other?

"Allocated 70 million dollars for this."

Better than nothing but still a pittance. If the FedGov can cough up ~$3 billion of our tax dollars for digital set-top converters then they should be able to come up with more for border barriers.

Don't laugh. The enviro's are trying everything they can to stop a border barrier fence because it will harm endangered species.

A border fence would be an ecological disaster. The fragile species, alienus undocumentus, now flourishing in this unique border habitat, would be decimated by a fence!

I know what I'm talking about

That was difficult to infer from the reply offered.

I suspect that some on this thread have little understanding of the circumstances and events shaping Mexican immigration into the US since WWII. I further suspect that many have little knowledge of Mexican politics since Villa's incursions into New Mexico and fewer have even a basic knowledge of the current Mexican economy, let alone its style of governance.

All of which makes for a crippled discussion, hobbled by ignorance, usually retreating to blind partisan loyalty fostering adhominem attacks exampled by:"not just your narrow little mind".

I agree with you....the other guy was asking if I thought we were losing in Iraq....another ploy used here to deflect and call someone a troll or Dem or whatever...and that was not the issue at hand....I agree with YOU though

I have also angrily thought the very same thing.

W's immigration policy is a joke, and I'm not laughing.

Our country's future is at stake and he tinkers with amnesty.

How about giving an "amnesty" for all us hard working taxpayers and give us a 6 year pay no taxes "guest worker program"?

What happened to due process (5th amendment)? Disparate treatment, watering down my valuable citizenship to nothing, essentially taking my property without due process and just compensation. Wages are being surpressed by the flood of illegals, unfair competition by those that employ them and dont pay taxes worker's comp etc...

W has turned his back on this Nation, why not take some of our troops and put them on the border? Or at least voice that illegal immigration will not be tolerated? He won't lift a finger or raise his voice. This lip service fooled no one. (well a few maybe)

Look, I am not in favor of any more coming in legally or illegaly. We have enough. I was responding to "the work that Americans won't do". That is a reality. It's too common that a young man with only a high school education refuses an entry level job @ $10.00 w/insurance benefits and an opportunity to learn a skill. It's not the pay rate that stops them despite what some are saying here - it's a lack of work ethic. This is also part of the "cycle" you refer to. So yeah - what are we going to do about this? Do you have an answer?
