Suge Knight, who owned a record label that sold a lot of the 'gangsta' albums that came out in the '90's apparently supports Bush, and the Iraq war, according to Jay Nordinger:

"More celebs? A reader sent me this:
"'I saw something on TV last night that I thought you'd appreciate. West Coast gangsta-rap impresario Suge Knight, having just been released from prison, was on the Jimmy Kimmel late-night talk show. And more than once, Suge mentioned that he supported the president and our country and our fight. He also emphasized that he was an American, and not a hyphenated African-American. . . . Rap mogul and admitted thug Marion 'Suge' Knight, new conservative hero?'"
I think that if you are ascending economically, you'll ask yourself what you have in common with a socialist political party, even if you're black. Dems want to increase taxes on your income, regardless of your race. If I came from a background with little history of family wealth, I'd be wary about giving up half of my financial success, too.
Absolutely. I think that says it all.
Great link in your post... For all we know, Suge Knight and 50 Cent could be Freepers, posting anonymously. ;-) I particularly like James Woods and his comments.
I was never one who thought rap was so bad - I always looked at it as actors just playing a part. Like "Dirty Harry" and the old spaghetti westerns - I remember guys when I was growing up watched Clint Eastwood movies with that whole wild west mentality. (I'm female, but I was a Clint Eastwood fan, too).
Now I watched the 50 Cent's "Hustler" video for "Get Rich or Die Tryin'", and I can see how his character might be viewed along those same lines. There was no "people-are-suffering-and-someone-needs-to-help" in the video; it was all "I-came-from-nothing-and-hustled-my-way-to-the-top." Of course, I never watched his other videos, so I don't know what they're like.
