Laura didn't say "Holiday Tree". She said "Happy Holidays". Quit jumping to conclusions.

I don't think so, but I think they probably claim it is to get tax exempt status. They use the candlelighting like Hanukkah, I think its a spirtual rebirth reminding them of their African Roots. What do I know? Politically correctness is destroying this great nation.

A decorated tree has absolutely no meaning for any other celebration except Christmas.

Have you put up a Kwannza tree? How about an Eid or Ramadan tree? What about a Chaunukah tree?

It's offensive. It is demeaning. It is insulting and I am heartily sick of it.

It is a Christmas tree!!!!

I think it's time for Christians to fully abandon decorating and gift-giving for Christmas, and instead keep it a simple, reverent time of fellowship with church, family and friends. If so many are upset with the word this time of year, then let's quit upsetting them.

I tried to do the same thing but I couldn't get their e-mail contact place to respond. I had to register and did so, still couldn't get it to work.

Anyway, brilliant idea.

The ongoing de-emphasis on Christmas for reasons of political correctness drives me nuts, and I'm Jewish.

Good for you! If I don't run into you before then, have a wonderful Chanukkah.

Again, no room at the Holiday Inn for the little lady and child . . . I'm here all week, but seriously,
the university in the little college town I live in has been putting on a 'Seasonal Peace Celebration' for the last few years. They have a `Holiday Tree'. Blow-hards bloviate about world peace. It's a safe, sanitary & legally correct (as well as poorly attended--even the egg-heads don't waste their time) replacement for Santa arriving in a sled, caroling, prayers, and what we enjoyed in the past: Christmas.
There's a special level of hell reserved for ACLU members, I'm convinced, along with the treacherous and traitors.

"I meant it to read that the "Christmas tree" has Pagan origins, not Christmas itself. Sorry for the confusion."

Wicker baskets do too, but not in 2005!

I haven't hauled anyone's entrails around a tree and then burnt them suspended from a basket recently.

When she screws up which she has been alot lately then she will be criticized. She deserves criticism lately with some of her actions. Nancy Reagan was demonized by everyone, Barbra Bush was somewhat, Hilary was just road kill on these sites. Little Laura is not made of Glass when she errors she should get what she deserves. I am sure that her feeling will not be hurt by some angry folks. To me the worst thing you can do is kill someone which she did so believe me she has many more worries on her mind than some people being upset with her by her slip of the tongue statement.

Bush, like every other year, will issue a statement honoring Kwanzaa again this year. I wish he'd just ignore it. Or, he could get more into the spirit of it. "In honor of Kwanzaa, I will put Laura's big toe in a vise, whip her with an electrical cord, and put a soldering iron in her mouth. The Bush family encourages the same for you and yours."
