For comedian Sarah Silverman, Sept. 11, 2001, the worst day in this countrys history, could be twisted into a business coup for American Airlines.
If only the company would use her suggested slogan: American Airlines: First Through the Towers.
After all, 9-11 was devastating for the New Hampshire-born comic. But not because of the murders of the 2,986 people who died that terrible day.
In the movie Sarah Silverman: Jesus is Magic the 34-year-old jokester quips in the big-screen version of her one-woman show that it was doubly tragic because it happened to be the exact same day I found out that a soy chai latte was, like, 900 calories.
The chain of calamity began that terrible morning when 92 people aboard American Airlines Flight 11 took off from Logan Airport.
Within minutes, the plane was hijacked by five terrorists. Two flight attendants, the captain, and passenger Danny Lewin were killed in-flight, their throats slashed by hijackers.
At 8:46 a.m., the Boeing 767 hurtled into the North Tower of the World Trade Center. Six stories erupted in flames. People began leaping from upper floors to escape the scorching heat. The suicides fatally injured firefighters on the ground below.
I fail to see whats funny in that.
Neither does Boston comic Joe Finn, the spokesman for the Mark Bavis Foundation, a scholarship fund named for the former Boston University hockey star and LA Kings scout who died on a hijacked flight.
Its tasteless and disrespectful, Finn said, who said Osama Bin Laden is fair game, but not the loss of life. Its a taboo subject for most comics, joking about Americans getting killed.
Im sure the families of 177 Massachusetts families who lost loved ones that day are not laughing.

Boy, she sounds like a real knee-slapper.
Don't be so sure about all 177 families...as we've seen, many families can dishonor the deaths of their own spouse or child in the name of their own personal politics and ambitions.
Doesn't excuse her other remark though.
If she's going to cross the line, at least be funny. (She ain't...)If she was funny, she wouldn't be doing it.
She's the girlfriend of Jimmy Kimmel...I wouldn't expect her to have any sense.
This is about as low as libnuts have gone...lately.
Sarah Silverman sounds like a 34-year-old moron. That dingbat should seek comedy material elsewhere.

Can someone please explain to me why Hollywood Jews are so pro-Palestine and pro terrorism? Do they know no history before WWII? Do they agree that they should be exterminated as per Iran's stated agenda? Do they really believe that Israel has no right to exist in any form? Can they honestly believe that Israel is somehow menacing the rest of the Middle East?
It's some strange type of guilt.
These people do not understand decency and propriety, but I suspect you can get their attention by hitting them in the pocketbook.
Must be a protege' of Al (not funny at all) Franken.
Maybe she too will end up begging for salary on Air America with no audience.
My guess is that they all hate what America stands for, and you know the rest about "birds of a feather".
By the way, the following "ad by Google" appeared on the Herald's page when I just went to it. These ads "spider" certain words and deliver an ad based on them. The word
was "Twin", so the following ad came up (referring to
the Bush twins...)
>>why Hollywood Jews are so pro-Palestine and pro terrorism
Not all of them; I believe Ron Silver is Jewish and if you
saw the Dick Morris movie "FahrenHYPE 9/11" you know he's
on the RIGHT side of history.
From Internet Movie Database (which lists his real name as
Ronald Zimelman): "A lifelong Democrat of the Truman mold (his description), he broke with the Democratic Party over the War on Terrorism and spoke at the 2004 Republican National Convention in New York City. Has re-registered as an Independent."
