What exactly is it when people or mods say zot on some of these threads? I've been noticing it lately but never really figured out what it was for?

Don't you just wish this site allowed sound links??? LOL Maybe not.... lolEmbedded sound was permitted waaaaaaaay back in "the good old days".
My favorite was the circus music that accompanied one of our very first HTML for noobies threads.
Of course, that was also back in the days when the posting software didn't check for errant font tags (intentional or otherwise). So we spent a lot of time trying to close tags on the threads and getting the font back to something looking halfway normal and readable, while trolls and disruptors would trash other threads with their html bombs.
((((sigh))) Yes, it would be nice to have sound again.
Unfortunately, there is a downside to it as well.

zot, your feedback has been requested. Heh! Zot is the sound that lightning makes in the BC comic strip. I first read it in 1962. Then, for many years as our boys were growing up, Zot was the name of my character in Dungeons & Dragons games (Zot was a lawful-good magic user). When I signed up for FR several years ago, it hadn't been taken, so I entered it as my nicname here. Later, ZOT took on its special meaning in FR as the lightning-bolt by which the moderators dispatch trolls and disruptors.

Im not sure having never tried it.
My guess would be they have to crawl over broken glass and beg the mods to trust them to not lose their kewl again.
Usually old timers leaving involves an Opus.
The smart FReepers simply take a long break when they have had enough, and then they come back when they are mentally rested.
