Mother's Iraq Protest Plays to Smaller Crowd

CRAWFORD, Tex., Nov. 26 -- Dancing to reggae music and hugging her supporters, Cindy Sheehan led an anti-Iraq war rally Saturday at a one-acre campsite adjoining the ranch where President Bush is spending his holiday weekend.

As in August, when she galvanized attention and made headlines for days with similar protests, there were songs and speeches and demonstrators holding signs reading "Bring the Troops Home" near the main entrance of the 1,600-acre ranch where Bush has been vacationing since Tuesday.

Unlike then, when hundreds came from all over the country for major events at the two campsites named after Sheehan's son, who was killed in Iraq, Sheehan found herself addressing a crowd of only about 100 Saturday afternoon.

The Sheehan Circus was even giving away free food--and lots of it! And still, nobody came. (Ma Sheehan's sis is the lady at the pix.)

There are more people in line for the free food ... then for her book signing ... LOL!

Geee what a nice little "Love In". When did they drop the acid and express the "free love" ?

Don't at least two people have to show up before you can have a Love-In?

It must be tough realizing that nobody cares about her son anymore. The war has moved on to a new phase. Her son's sacrifice is appreciated by most Americans. But his mother's ignorance is despised. She has proved her ignorance of reality. Even her husband has distanced himself from her mid life crisis.

The media needs to move on from this non story.

Protester Dede Miller (C), sister of anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan, is arrested by McLennan County sheriff deputies near U.S. President George W. Bush's ranch in Crawford, Texas, November 23, 2005. A dozen Iraq war protesters were arrested on Wednesday as they tested a new ban on camping and parking on roads near Bush's Texas ranch where he is spending the Thanksgiving holiday. I heard on the national news though that hundreds of her supporters showed up, and that "a few" anti-cindy protesters showed up.

Sheehan found herself addressing a crowd of only about 100 Saturday afternoon.

Yet, a crowd of 100 still merits a Washington Post news article?

A makeshift memorial is shown at the camp of anti-war protestors, Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2005, in Crawford, Texas. Peace Mom Cindy Sheehan, who's son died in Iraq, drew thousands to her 26-day war protest near President Bush's Crawford ranch this summer and plans to return for Thanksgiving this week. Note the size of the tent in the background. I believe it would be safe to say that the turnout did not meet expectations.

Thanks for the ping Coop.

I would have missed this wonderful picture of a person so unable to "handle" the situation. Imagine knowing the photographers were there and looking like that! Where were her HANDLERS? LOL

People spend it at home with their families or shopping, getting ready for Christmas." Said Cindy Sheehan

many of those who support the cause are in New Orleans, helping to lead efforts to clean up the city after Hurricane Katrina. Said Ann Wright.

You guys need to get your stories straight. Where are all the committed anti-war types? Maybe they just got bored listening to the mind numbing cadence of Cindy Sheehan's speeches. It's worse than fingernails on a chalkboard.

"What was important for us was to have a symbolic presence here now," she [Ann Wright] said. "Numbers are not important -- the numbers are out in the country."

Having seen photos of the 'symbolic' empty tent, I'm curious aabout how many 'symbolic' porta' potties they rented.

If they're going to fabricate the news, they have to report non-events as milestones -- while ignoring and denying successful events like the liberation of Afghanistan and Iraq.
