San Francisco -- Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said Friday that he would consider granting clemency to Crips co-founder and convicted murderer Stanley Tookie Williams.
After a private hearing with Williams' lawyers at his Sacramento office, Schwarzenegger said he would meet again on Dec. 8 with the lawyers, Los Angeles County prosecutors and others involved.
As governor, he has the authority to commute a death sentence to life without parole. He is not legally obligated to hold a public or private hearing. Schwarzenegger decides clemency requests on a "case-by-case basis," . . .

I disagree. I don't think he has any intention of granting clemency, but for political reasons, he won't state his intentions until the very last minute.
California seceding from the Union? That would be nice. But for it to REALLY happen, it would be up to the other states and congress.
2/3 vote from congress and 3/4 of the states approval could (I believe) vote California out of the union.
A nation wide petition should be started!

Williams has refused to formally renounce his gang membership....
As for his bank account..high profile inmates such as Scott Peterson usually get $10 or $20 checks, Williams receives checks for $500 or $1,000 at a time.
Crittendon also cited Williams' willingness to share an exercise yard with Crips and his unusually large prison bank account. And he said Williams' younger son is a trouble-making Crips member in prison for murder.
California FReepers need to call the govenator and tell them that they support the death sentance to be carried out. Just because Hollywood liberals and the media kiss Tookie's butt does not mean justice should be denied.
Tookie is a piece of breathing trash and plenty of other people need the oxygen being wasted on him. He's no better than Uday Hussein. In fact, Uday had better taste in clothing, cars and women. Just spike him already and be done with it.
Isn't leaving convicts on death row for an indefinite number of years cruel and unusual punishment by any rational standard?

Now, now.... he said he is only 'considering' it. I think he's just giving it lip service. If he does grant clemency I wil be very disappointed and Ah-nuld's political career will be over, as any conservative support he has now will disappear.
As governor, it's on his head this guy dies. So considering this, reviewing the case and speaking to those involved in the prosecution is normal. I too would review the case, and then, based on the facts, would do what needed to be done.

Tookie probably threatened to have Arnold's family iced.
My gut feeling says he is going to grant clemency.
How will this effect his chances of being reelected?
His supporters should be asking for his exoneration, not clemency. Jeez, can't they get anything right?
If they are only asking for clemency then they are admitting that he's a liar.
He needs to stop stealing my oxygen and the oxygen of all law-abiding people. Having said that, so long as he never walks free I will not be happy, but content.
