President Condi Rice?

Posted on 11/25/2005 3:36:42 PM PST by oldsalt

Did I hear correctly during the Fox news interview with Condi Rice by Jim Angle?

When he ended the interview I could swear he called her Madame President instead of Madame Secretary.

If not maybe it was wishful thinking on my part.

We need to stick together and wait for a generation of Iraqi's that do not remember Hussein or the war.

Are we discussing a government for the US or Iraq? The US government should focus on US interests. Whether that involves Iraq, or not, depends solely on our national objectives. As long as it is beneficial to the US to support Iraq we should do so; but, not for 1 minute longer. We are not the world's policemen; when the generous selfless protector becomes synonymous with world class suckers, we should simply pull back and find another solution.

The people of Iraq have been offered a rare second chance. The US at great cost of lives and money has exercised restraint in order to bring an unprecedented opportunity for progress to the region. But, we are not going to diddle in there endlessly; Iraqis must either step up and demonstrate their appreciation, or they will suffer the consequences of every backwards cultures that has failed to integrate with civilization.

We need the "Nationalist Party" with a platform to regain our national sovereignty

You would have my vote. The GOP is no longer worth the walk/drive to the polling station. The only group they represent these days are foreign (global) multinational interests. They have done NOTHING during the last five years for America or Americans, and they have become progressively more intrusive and socialist. They should merge the two major parties into the half-arse-pacaderms.

He is the new symbol for the GOP:

No thanks. She is too coddling of Islam, just like the president. I heard today the item about the soldiers burning the terrorists' bodies in Afghanistan and a couple of them being reprimanded for "taunting" the terrorists who were watching. Excuse me? They threw a couple of remarks the way of the enemy? How about lobbing a couple of grenades their way -- or getting out the flame-thrower? Taunting, my eye. That is a huge source of dissatisfaction with this Administration, not at all what the left thinks, that the majority of Americans agree with them. We disapprove of how Bush has handled the war because we think he has not been tough enough. Kick some ass, damn it!

The whole crowd, on both sides of the aisle, needs to be broomed.

BushDoleBushDoleBushDoleClintonBushDoleBushRiceDoleBushDole - enough!

Time for some fresh blood and liberty from these statists.

I totally agree. The scary thing is that I had to read past 16 other posters before anyone really "gets it." The very reason America is in the mess it's in is because we keep 'settling' for the lessor of two evils. We are in a bloody fight for our very survival, and IF we don't start putting REAL conservatives into office, we're going to continue the race to the bottom. NO MORE RINOS!! They are bought and paid for by big corporations. Selling us out for these unconstitutional trade agreements is how they repay the corporations for their monetary 'donations.' It's illegal, but they do it anyway because we let them get away with it.

Now, we're looking at an amnesty that will legalize millions of illegals and in that number will be thousands of gang members and terrorists! It's all to repay those same big corporations. As a result, lots more Americans are going to die.......all because of the greed and lust for power by our congress critters! We have to take control of America while we still can, IF it's not already too late. Rice is a RINO, and I don't care if she is the most intelligent woman alive, she's a globalist, and as such, a threat to our Constitution!!

[...Are we discussing a government for the US or Iraq?...]

I'm speaking of an occupation of Iraq similar to post WWII in Japan and Germany. The handoff plan for Iraq is going to work if we prop them up for a while. That IS a U.S. issue. We cannot remain isolationist if the enemy is on our soil, marrying our daughters and changing our history books.

I'm talking about the Republican party sticking together until the Iraqi liberation is complete... maybe one more U.S. election. By that time, (hopefully) there will be other issues for us to squabble about other than middle east war.

IMO the party will split if domestic issues begin to dominate foreign issues. But that could take a while.

It sure will; but what will we get out of it? Will they establish an annual alotment of cheap oil to end our supply problems? Will they allow us a 99-year-lease on a large number of major bases around the country; including unlimited permission for overflight? We know what Iran gets out of this, but we should be equally clear on what we want to get out of this.

Also, you made it clear that you would want somebody who was "popular". I differ. I want somebody who confronts the crucial issues with a no BS, clear, pro-American approach to issues.

No I was someone who can be elected who supports or is against issues I am for or against. The guys you listed have no chance in hell in getting elected at any point and time. That's the difference. You live in a fantasy world while I TRY to keep things based in reality.

"I didn't say I would want him (Giuliani) to win. I said he could win. (against Hilary)"

Hillary would crush Giuliani. What motivation would the GOP base have to elect a Pro-Abortion, Pro-Homosexual Agenda, Anti-Gun liberal from New York City?

What qualifies her?

Her membership in the anti-sovereignty Council on Foreign Relations.

"All the polls suggest she wouldn't."

The "polls" (mainstream media propaganda) also suggested that Clinton had a 70% approval rating at the height of the impeachment hearings. I suppose you believed that too?

What will we get? How 'bout a stable middle east, salted with liberty, democracy and Christianity? How 'bout a safer Israel? How 'bout we forget about their oil and develop alternatives? We don't need their oil. Of course we should keep a base there, with flyover privilege. I NEVER thought we were in it for anything other than defending America.

If I were islamofascist I would hunt OBL down and shoot him myself. Look what he has brought to the region. Big mistake for Islam. Great opportunity for democracy.

Great Parle Arcadia.

>> AND WHAT IS WRONG WITH RICE'S POSITION ON ABORTION? >

Your own post just explained it:
'Describing pro-lifers as "the other side"'

Hillary describes pro-lifers as "the other side". So if it's Hillary vs. Condi, pro-lifers will be on "the other side" of both of the "main" candidates and will be forced to vote for someone who supports allowing the killing of unborn babies.

BTW, there is no such thing as a "libertarian" position on abortion. Libertarians are all over the spectrum on the issue. Congressman Ron Paul is a hard core libertarian and he votes PRO-LIFE. He and Condi see very differently on the issue.

LIBERTARIANS ON ABORTION: Abortion is a woman’s choice and does not concern the state. Recognizing that abortion is a sensitive issue and that libertarians can hold good-faith views on both sides, we believe the government should be kept out of the question. We condemn state-funded abortions. It is particularly harsh to force someone who believes that abortion is murder to pay for another’s abortion. It is the right of the woman, not the state, to decide the desirability of prenatal testing, Cesarean births, fetal surgery, and/or home births.
Source: National Platform of the Libertarian Party Jul 2, 2000.

I read Condi's position as not the opposite of Pro-life (meaning pro-choice) but ANOTHER side. She believes the government should not be involved with killing babies. She doesn't see this "right" in the constitution.

In a perfect world, we would not be having this discussion. How sad that anyone could defend the indefensible. If Americans were not so promiscuous, we would not have to kill our babies for birth control.

If Condi wins the Republican primary, Condi will be the next president.

Any Republican primary. People who aren't ideologues, even Republican primary voters, are tired of the "vote for me" deal and will go for someone who is isn't running but appears to be a serious candidate. As far as I know, the last serious draft was Eisenhower, and, well, that worked, didn't it?

This is your third attempt--you still are not anwering to the main point I raised in my initial post. Strike three, Mike.

To answer your "off the main point" comment, your desire to seek popularity contest pursuers and politically correct liberals/RINOliberals would leave us in the current mess we have with zero effort toward limited government, trashing of our national sovereignty, and total fiscal insanity.

Your desires are not very becoming of a conservative, Mike.

You don't desire to have anyone in power that is even remotely close to your beliefs? Wait wait wait, let me guess, if it isn't a "true conservative" it might as well be a flaming leftist right? LOL

Your desires are not very becoming of a conservative, Mike.

You have no clue. As usual. Good thing I will NEVER look for anyone's approval, especially the likes of you.
