The following is an update from Daily Pundit who has chronicled the UNBELIEVABLE behavior of CNN employees in the wake of the X/Cheney incident. A switch board operator who berated callers to CNN telling them "Bush and Cheney should stop lying" and that "Putting the X over Cheney's face was freedom of speach" has been fired by CNN. This has been confirmed! Visit this link to hear the tape.
I just got off the phone with Laurie Goldberg, Senior Vice President for Public Relations with CNN. Her statement confirms the authenticity of the tape recording and reveals the actions CNN took after learning of the incident:
"A Turner switchboard operator was fired today after we were alerted to a conversation the operator had with a caller in which the operator lost his temper and expressed his personal views -- behavior that was totally inappropriate. His comments did not reflect the views of CNN. We are reaching out to the caller and expressing our deep regret to her and apologizing that she did not get the courtesy entitled to her. "
I can't wait to hear Rush Limbaugh play this tape back.
20 million will hear this idiot at CNN.
I live in motels a lot, and I'm here to tell you that the leftys that run the hotels seldom have Fox news as a choice. You get CNN or nothing. Even in the good hotels.
I've called called the newsdesks at several networks and never go an automated attendant. Plus the people aren't anything like that "call".
Like I said, I suspect a scam here.
I wouldn't say that. It sounds like nothing more than a know-it-all pimple farmer, the typical unbathed Leftist.
Yeah, right. I was born, but not yesterday...
Certainly circumstances demand the utmost caution. It could easily be a scam to discredit bloggers. The "Team Hollywood" statements are filled with absurdities. All this is amply recognized on the Daily Pundit forum, but then Bill Quick stated he had verified it with Laurie Goldberg of CNN, so I'm reserving judgment. I will say the tape of the phone call is very convincing.
What's next? An MSM confirmation? Denial? A proclamation of the ruse, crowing about the gullible right? I'm thinking the worst case, NOTHING! So it will just fade into oblivion.
Goldberg should be fired for lying. The ***clown's statements did reflect CNN's beliefs.
Nope, Just a hyperbolic suspicion. But the bit
about watchers of CNN & MSNBC becoming depressed
and angry...i've seen anectdotal evidence of, as
well as expirienced myself...of course that could
just be all the negative, US bashing, perversion
pushing, crap* they air as if it's "commonplace".
Welcome to FR. But we try to tell the wacko kooks to stay where they belong over at DU with the other libs. Your post is quite typical of the DUers who like to post wacko takes on what they THINK conservatives would think.
We don't think CNN is nefariously trying to brainwash it's audience through subliminal messages. We KNOW they try to brain wash their viewers by spinning Dem talking points and hiding facts and truth. Nice try though.
Maybe *you* don't..but i wouldn't pt it past them. I think someone should go though recordings of their brodcasts over the last 5 years, and look for evidence to cpnfirm or refute the valid suspicion. Their explanation is *way* fishy. No *other* station has a "switch" that resembles an 'X'.
You should go to the Fox news website. They have a "hotel finder" that lists the hotels in different cities that carry Fox News.
It is a lifesaver for me.
Think of your assertion logistically. In order for CNN to conspire to subliminally brainwash it's audience as a matter of corporate policy would take a conspiracy of at least 30-40 people. You have to see the executives okaying it, the editors, the producers, the techs and then the shrinks who came up with the brainwashing to run. You actually believe that in 40-50 people not one of them would think it was wrong? Even at CNN you have to realize that at least one of these people would be conservative or at worst a decent person. It is just logistically impossible to think that this could be happening systematically.
I'm not a CNN defender. To hide facts or spin statements in favor of their viewpoint is something that can be done at a systemic level, but to think that some nefarious act like subliminal advertising could be going on for five years without anyone objecting or noticing. You're off the deep end. Stick to media bias. That can be quantitatively shown to be a systematic problem at CNN, NYT and all of the MSM. It's the type of conspiracy offered by the nutjobs on the left.
This was obviously the work of a single technician who probably didn't wish to confess and lose his job.
I didn't say that it had been going on for
five years..just that would seem to be a likely
horizon of investigation. Nor that it was a constant
concerted program. Asa far as the number of people
"in the know", I think that does not need to be as
large a group as you think. Could be a small group
of rogue techies, acting on the larger sentiment
of the Communist News Network culture, with access
to the main control facilities...remember that most
people in the control room need not know that
the signal has been altered, for it to be looked
at by them, and aired, messages inserted, if
they aren't seeing it being done.
Could be as simple as a trojan program, and a
single person operationg a remote key switch.
...till something goes wrong.
The CNN Cheney X File plot thickens... anonymous 'switchboard operator' takes the fall...they hope.

Thanks for the update ping, Bitt
Hmmm....a phone operator? I've been wondering what Dan Rather was doing these days...
The operator won't have to worry about finding another job. The Democratic Party will hire him immediately.
Ping to Doctor Raoul's take on this.
If this is a scam, sounds like one Hollywood firm just got and lost its fifteen minutes of fame.
