The following is an update from Daily Pundit who has chronicled the UNBELIEVABLE behavior of CNN employees in the wake of the X/Cheney incident. A switch board operator who berated callers to CNN telling them "Bush and Cheney should stop lying" and that "Putting the X over Cheney's face was freedom of speach" has been fired by CNN. This has been confirmed! Visit this link to hear the tape.
I just got off the phone with Laurie Goldberg, Senior Vice President for Public Relations with CNN. Her statement confirms the authenticity of the tape recording and reveals the actions CNN took after learning of the incident:
"A Turner switchboard operator was fired today after we were alerted to a conversation the operator had with a caller in which the operator lost his temper and expressed his personal views -- behavior that was totally inappropriate. His comments did not reflect the views of CNN. We are reaching out to the caller and expressing our deep regret to her and apologizing that she did not get the courtesy entitled to her. "

I'd rather find out who runs the site "Daily Pundit". Is it a Freeper?
And I assume the story is a hoax. There is absolutely no reason to think it's true anyway.
I just can't believe it! They said it was an accident, how can I ever trust them again?
"Don't let the sign intimidate you--change the stinking channel."
Good advice. What're they gonna do if you change it?
Send you to Vietnam?
(I have not served. My tagline honors my son and my cousin.)
"fired and promoted to video editor; yeah right."
Wait a minute, folks. Did they fire the switchboard operator who answers calls, or the switchboard operator who operates the switcher?
I read it they fired the "Hello, CNN" operator.
I'm going to see how many FReepers who defended ABC, Target, and Wal-Mart over such incidents defend CNN here.
I was being sarcastic.
I believe from the reports I've read (two of which are on news.google.com right now), that Team Hollywood originated the call.
DailyPundit just appears to be hosting the wav from the call recorded by Team Hollywood as a followup to numerous reports that this was how callers were being treated.
Unlikely that one staffer would be the only one answering phones this way if that was the case. How many times did they have to call to get a barking moonbat on tape?
Do we know anyone at Daily Pundit?
I put saran wrap under the tinfoil

Of course we don't know if they fired anybody. It's that they ADMITTED the tape is legit!!!
Bother to read all my posts in this thread before
closing yor mond.
He is clearly a victim of the blacklist. Expect George Cluny (the rat) Jr. to make a movie about it in 40 years.
Let's put a quote from the guy on the phone on a bumper sticker - "CNN if you don't like it don't watch it."
ROFLMAO.
No warriors raised hell?
It would not surprise me one bit to find out one day that your theory was supported by fact.
