LANCASTER - Kara Beth Borden was the second girlfriend that David Ludwig took on a long-distance trip without her parents' consent this year.
Confirming a report in a Lancaster newspaper, the Rev. Michael D. Shelley, pastor of the Lititz Christian Church, said Tuesday that Ludwig took a girl to his family's hunting cabin in Juniata County in the spring.
The couple returned voluntarily, Shelley said, adding that he knows the Ludwig family well because they attend his church.
"I know the incident and I know the parents took care of it," Shelley said during a telephone interview Tuesday. "No one else [including police] were involved."

David Ludwig had just been involved with a churchgoing girl in Hawaii. Seems he really did a rah-rah job on his "faith," seduced her, then dumped her for being a "stumbling block" to his walk with the Lord.
She actually apologized to him for "letting it go so far" and for not "being stronger" and for not being a "better sister in Christ"!
I don't see how they can NOT charge her, at least with accessory after the fact. It's clear she not only went with him willingly, she did NOTHING to facilitate his capture as a murder suspect.
Under PA time she can do time for this, but I'm wondering why the delay. Maybe they are trying to be nice and wait until after Thanksgiving.
I also don't understand why the authorities (assuming they're not) are not treating Kara Borden as a flight risk. I realize she can't drive legally, but she certainly could take off somehow and then wouldn't they look like dumbos.
Maybe they are banking on her staying put so she can stand by her man.
Kara Borden was 14 but we don't know the age of the other girl. She may not have been a minor. The information isn't there to either support or refute that conclusion yet many on the thread are assuming that the first girl was also 14.
not to mention sending out nudes with that 14 year old and most likely others...this is one where people sit and say "ohhhhhhhhh we shoulda saw the signs" while they sat and ignored everything and the only people who tried to stand up are dead now

Am I the only one who views this youthful Ludwig as a precursor to a Jim Jones or similiar manipulative personality type who uses and hides behind something good to do something bad and still finds a way get his victim to apologize. Sickening manipulators are the bane of humanity.

I'm very sorry the Bordens were murdered, but I'm happy this kid was caught NOW. Even if he did not end up killing somebody, he was headed toward a lifetime of strewing emotional carnage in his wake, or worse.
He probably does still have a hold on Kara. That's why she sat blank-faced at the funeral---like "Ok, bummer, but can you believe how much this guy loves me?"
The girl in Hawaii, though, I give her props. At the end of her email, she tells Ludwig, "BTW, I am putting you in my AIM blocker. Not because I don't want to talk to you, but because I DO."

Yes, and her parents had been trying for some time to address those signals. For example, they took away her internet access because she was maintaining email contact with Ludwig. She probably promised not to do it again--started sending nudes over her cell phone AND emailing again.
