In the summer of 1967, he played for the amateur Cape Cod League's Cotuit (Mass.) Kettleers. The words "Drafted by K.C." appear next to his name on a faded team program, the Journal reported.

Kape Cod?

"After being notified of the situation and after researching the matter ... I came to the conclusion that I was not drafted by the A's," he said.

Bill are you getting tips from John Kerry now?

I threw for a couple of bird dogs after I got out of high school. My tryouts lasted five minutes, total.

I can guarantee to you any baseball player would KNOW if he'd been drafted.

Fish story, maybe.

If you were drafted by a professional sports team, believe me, you would remember that day for the rest of your life. Your memory would not play tricks on you with something like that, unless you have a medical condition (hmmm??).

Interesting how libs always see the need to embellish (lie about) their lives records.

Pitiful.

He also harbored the TX RATS who ran out on their duty a couple years ago. For that alone, he'll never get my vote for dog catcher.

People who are willing to perpetuate a myth about themselves, are bound to lie about anything.

Richardson was drafted by the ZZZZZZs. Yawn. He is such a bore. And in other news Hillary Clinton was named after Sir Edmund Hillary...

I'm not quite ready to hit the "B.S." key with this.

Season is over. The coach gets contacted by scouts. One of the A's scouts is considering signing Richardson. Another scout is interested in signing Jones, the first baseman. Jones was drafted in the 54th round. Richardson wasn't drafted at all. The coach gets mixed up and thinks Richardson was drafted by the A's. It goes in the program. Richardson decides he doesn't want to quit college.

Unlikely, but not impossible.

"I never tried to embellish this," he said. "I never tried to mask it."

He never denied that he had been lying all along. That's his defense?

Because of his admission, Democrats in Congress will offer up a bill to draft Governor Richardson as an honorary draft member of the team.

If it were a Republican, he would be investigated, indicted, frog marched out of the capital, and face a firing squad.

Why on earth would anybody lie about something like this? Did he think no one would be able to look it up and expose the lie? What a maroon!

If Richardson thinks an outright lie like this won't matter to voters he could be sorely mistaken. Remember when George O'Leary was named the head football coach at Notre Dame 3-4 years ago, only to be terminated about a week or so later because he had lied on his resume. O'Leary had claimed for years that very early in his career he was an assistant coach at some small college (I can't remember the name) when in fact he never was. Richardson might be able to BS his way out of an exageration, but a 29 year old flat out lie is a whole different story.
