I figured it was East Indian food. Just thought I'd throw that in.
Years ago, a friend brought cookies to work for Christmas. They were beautiful. Looked like large snowflakes. He's East Indian. The cookies had curry in them. Was I surprised.

"I like to double the temperature and cut my cooking time in half."
My grandmother used to say "when it's smoking it's cooking, when it's black it's done"!

I once cooked a half turkey half as long. Boy was I surprised when we all sat down for dinner and cut into the half done bird.

Thanks...We ripped the aluminum foil off the bird and it's looking good so far. Plenty of time for it to brown, I hope...So far my husband and I have disagreed on whether the turkey should be foiled and where to stick the thermometer!
Guess that's not too bad after 36 yrs of marriage. Once a yr debate about a bird!

Goto the supermarket and buy 2 Swanson Turkey TV dinners. Cook both and eat one. Save the second for leftovers.

Back in 2000 in the Bay area Sis & I went to a Indian restaurant in Alameda for dinner. We were the only Anglos in the restaurant. After ordering the waitresses explained the our order was "very specy", twice. We said yes to spice's. About 1 min later, the hostess came over to us and said" You ordered very spicy, is that right?" We said YES thank you.
now , I kid you not, the cook came out about a min later and looked at us, and in out our outside voice we screamed YES Spicy!
had a great meal after that.

Maybe you did the wrong half and it was a half assed turkey!

You mean you deep fry the turkey FROZEN??????????? Only if you are intending to feed the Astronauts on the International Space Station. The hot oil combined with the ice will lift that turkey right up to 'em. :)

All through my childhood my mother would open up her Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook and use the cooking charts in the back of the book to tell her how to roast the turkey. It gave her times and temperatures for different sizes of turkey and whether or not the bird was stuffed. The turkeys always came out perfectly.
After my mother died I became the person in charge of the turkey. I have never cooked a bad turkey. By using those same cooking charts, all my turkeys have been perfect.
Cooking a turkey seems intimidating but it is not really hard.
The Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook is still published. I notice it on sale just the other day in my local supermarket. It is a classic. You might want to consider investing in a copy of your own.

(try your sandwich with stuffing and cranberry mayo).
We use the creamy coleslaw and there is no better sandwich than when the juice runs down your arm. Ha,ha.

I have already cooked 5 turkeys this Thanksgiving.
All in cooking bags.
Rinse turkey. Remove bag from front cavity and neck from back cavity. Generous amount of salt, pepper, sage, and pepper over entire skin.[I then add about a half quart of water so I get extra juices for the gravy]. Place in cooking bag (directions on bag for time and temp.) I cook my birds at about 375 and all had pop-ups to determine when done.

My wife makes chile verde. We have to tone it down for our friends. I call it "Two Beer Chile Verde" cause it takes two beers to put out the fire on your tongue.
