The fuming Nova Scotia lumberjack who donated the spruce to be lighted on Boston Common has a message for the Hub: Feed that holiday tree to a woodchipper.
My family donated a Christmas tree. If Boston wants to call it something else, maybe they should just send it back, said Donnie Hatt, the logger who donated the 48-foot-tall white spruce that grew in his front yard for 36 years. If Id known there would be this much craziness, I would have ground it up myself.
Hatt was referring to the flurry of media calls hes received since yesterdays Herald reported Christian fundamentalist preacher Jerry Falwells army of conservative lawyers was targeting Bostons holiday tree in its campaign against cities and school districts that attempt to secularize Christmas.
Yesterday, Mayor Thomas M. Menino insisted the tree hell light at a 6:30 p.m. ceremonyon the Common Dec. 1 is a Christmas tree, and is going to stay a Christmas tree as long as Im mayor.
Asked why the citys Web site still referred to the event as Bostons Official Holiday Tree Lighting, Menino said, I didnt write the Web site. If I had, it would have said Christmas tree.
The mayor added, If Jerry Falwell wants to do his thing, thats up to him. Not every city official particularly cares what the tree is called.
I think the spirit of Christmas goes beyond a tree. You can kill it by doing this type of thing, said City Councilor Felix Arroyo about the conflict sparked by Falwell and the Liberty Counsel, the Orlando-based group behind the Friend or Foe Christmas Campaign.

As for the idiot PC left, I wonder what it is about Christmas that makes them so uptight. What's wrong with Christmas tree? And why don't they apply the same PC standard to other religions? Why don't they try to make Muslims call "Ramadan" something more inclusive, for example? Why don't they try to make Jews call the menorah a "candle stick" instead? And isn't a spinning top "more inclusive" than a dreidel?
That's the way to hammer the left.

HULLLOOOO Mr. Mayor - you ARE in charge of the web site.... tell them to change it ASAP
I just had this fight with a bunch of radical leftists on a fountain pen collectors email list who wanted to call the annual Christmas Pen exchange a holiday pen exchange. My position is that a Christmas celebration or wishing some one a Merry Christmas is hardly exclusive.
I don't wish any one a Happy Holiday. Merry Christmas, now that is something else and I am wishing that to one and all.
The PC lefts concept of Utopia is threatened by the very tradition of Christmas. A man and a woman and children around a tree sharing family warmth and values is COUNTER
Left Wing Nut Society, wherein the stereotypical American Family has become 2 lesbians and several adopted children hugging each other over synthetic vegetarian turkey, avoiding phone cqalls from relatives who are straight. Thats the name of the game, to destroy traditional family Christmas values, so that abnormal family groupings will feel "INCLUDED." ( Translated ....so we can destroy the traditional family so we can feel included)
Talk about the GRINCH who stole Xmas? He has nothin'
on these Left wing nut Dims! LEAVE OUR TREES ALONE !!
OR SANTA IS GOING TO FIND OUT WHOSE BEEN NAUGHTY OR NICE !!!
Most of our "Christmas" symbols are adapted from pagan festivals anyway.
Independence Day is in need of a make over. Independence mocks those dependent upon the government, and is not inclusive.
Yes, It does...Its to be replaced by, "Co-Dependency Day"...on both, April 16th / October 1st every year, That's when the Statist Bureaucrats, get their Federal Windfall...w/ a gun, pointed @ the taxpayer...Vote Single Flat-Rate Income Tax.
