Last year, when the number of homicides surged, Mayor Gavin Newsom said on a radio call-in show that if the rate of killings continued people should start a campaign to recall him. He said that he himself might even sign the petition. His staff called the comment "tongue in cheek". Yeah, 'cause murder is such a fun subject to joke about (sarcasm). Newsom - what a jackass.

When you go to San Francisco, make sure to wear a flower in your hair...
Along with bulletproof body armor.

I have a great solution! Make SF a gun-free city! Take away citizen's guns, and then when they can't defend themselves, pretty soon there won't be anyone left to shoot! /sarc.

His staff called the comment "tongue in cheek.'' What a complete ass! You make tongue in cheek comments (which are always meant to be sarcastic or comical) when speaking about the murders of people in your city??
And yet, they vote for this turd. More proof that liberals are truly deranged and dangerous people!

In SanFran speak: it was just a local insurgent, a freedom fighter if you will, trying to free the minivan from the oppressive, occupying American driver...

Thanks for this thread Karl, I put an alert on the Threat Matrix for your thread.
Makes me think of Lee Malvo and friend, the east coast snipers, if i have the correct name.
Las Vegas has a lot of drive-by shootings also.

Newsom responded that he had been talking about curbing the city's gang violence,Now that is a surefire way to reduce crime. It is probably the main method employed in California.

Quagmire!
Someone should make a commercial with that recall quoted and play it all day on radio and TV. But is there and non-liberal money out there?
Of course, after a while, even liberals get tired of getting shot at.

"The reality is, we have had crimes this year that follow no traditional patterns,'' Newsom said. "The efforts that we've maintained around gang-related homicides, particularly in the African American community, have paid dividends this year. There's been substantial reductions, but again they're still unacceptably high and I'll continue to fight to do more and to do better.''
Did Newsom just say it was a African American problem? unbelievable!

His staff called the comment tongue in cheek. What tongue in cheek means in San Francisco-speak is much different than most readers would comprehend it to be...
