CNN SENIOR MANAGEMENT LAUNCHES INVESTIGATION OF CHENEY 'X'; CONTROL ROOM STAFFER 'LAUGHED' WHEN X FLASHED

CNN management has launched an internal investigation into how a giant black 'X' mark appeared over Vice President Dick Cheney's face -- as he delivered a speech from Washington on Monday!

"We are taking this matter very, very seriously, and I can assure you no one at this network would ever deliberately place an 'X' over the vice president's face," a top CNN source, who asked not to be named at this time, said from New York.

A well-placed CNN insider claims a control room staffer "laughed" when the image appeared shortly after 11 am.

A careful review of the tape now shows a white colored 'X' was also transposed over Cheney's face during the speech, it appeared for less than 1/15 of a second, creating a startling flash effect.

CNN spokeswoman Laurie Goldberg emails: "We concluded this was a technological malfunction not an issue of operator error. A portion of the switcher experienced a momentary glitch. We obviously regret that it happened and are working on the equipment to ensure it is not repeated."

A rival network news director asks: "When has an 'X' ever aired on CNN before? Who had the graphic sitting in the key signal? Who generated the 'X'?"

The vice president himself is said to have brushed off the incident, a White House source said early Tuesday morning.

"I can assure you no one at this network would ever deliberately place an 'X' over the vice president's face,"

Why is it that I remain unconvinced? Does anyone remember how much play that CNN gave to the idiotic "RATS" subliminal message story during the 2000 election? I don't specifically remember how CNN played it, but the media as a whole made it a top story during the height of the campaign. So if CNN played up the RATS story, why should anyone believe THEM now that a similar "glitch" has occurred?

Pure speculation here...but it seems like someone was playing around with fades, using an X to test...and didn't realize it was going out live. I doubt it was intentional, and I think I might have laughed, too, if I'd seen the unintentional effect of it X-ing out someone on-screen, either Hillary *or* Cheney.

The media bias to worry about is far more subtle than this. Let's not get ourselves distracted and pass out tinfoil.

Wouldn't be actually that surprising that some whacked out CNN lib just lost it for a minute and couldn't resist.

Bing Bing Bing, I think we have the winner. Until CNN offers up the dude as fired and terminated, all CNN Newsmen should be banned from the White House, and Dept. of Defense and State. Let them get their feed from Fox News!

The FCC should step in here, conduct a thorough investigation, and if CNN is found at fault (which is a no brainer) ... fine the crap out of them.

Our local leftist paper had an article about politicians temporarily removing state taxes on gasoline. The picture showed a smiling democrat governor.

My first thought was, "Amazing, the Dems are gonna give us a tax break?"

After reading the fine print I discovered that a republican suggested the tax break and Gov. Brian Swizzler-D was actually opposed to the it.

Talk about manipulating the truth.

"We are taking this matter very, very seriously."

You should.

And there is another matter that you should take even more seriously: a generalized "Leftist" bias and distortion that transforms news reporting into "Leftist," anti-American, Marxist propaganda and dangerously misleads the people of the U.S.A. and of other nations.

Bulls**t

This had to be the work of one of the anarchist working at CNN, and there's no way the network will ever admit that anyone did it on purpose, because CNN probably secretly loves it.

when CNN issued their statement last night didn't they say "See, we use that gigantic X for, blah blah blah.. but the machine malfunction and randomly put it up" or "someone hit the button by mistake"...

Yep. Someone made an effort to do this.

Some think it was intentional and malicious or they have incompetents working at CNN.

I think both assumptions apply.

""We are taking this matter very, very seriously, and I can assure you no one at this network would ever deliberately place an 'X' over the vice president's face," a top CNN source"

I guess it was somebody at PBS that put an 'X' on CNN. My kids used to come up with better excuses than CNN that I didn't buy into, and I trust my kids.
