LANCASTER, Pa. - A 14-year-old girl whose 18-year-old boyfriend allegedly fatally shot her parents left willingly with him after the slayings and was not kidnapped, prosecutors said in court papers filed Monday.
Kara Borden told detectives she left of her own free will, according to the filing. David Ludwig told detectives the two planned to get married and start a new life together.
Ludwig confessed to the slayings after his arrest and told police where to find the murder weapon in his car, according to court documents released Monday in Indiana.
In court documents filed in Pennsylvania, prosecutors said Kara Borden ran from her home to get into Ludwig's car after the Nov. 13 shootings.
"(Kara) told the defendant that she wanted to stay with him, and they drove west with the intent to 'get as far away as possible, get married, and start a new life,'" Ludwig told detectives, according to the court papers.
District Attorney Donald Totaro said Monday the kidnapping charge against Ludwig, of Lititz, will be dropped at his preliminary hearing next month.
Earlier Monday, Indiana authorities released a search warrant affidavit for the car the couple drove nearly 600 miles from the murder scene in central Pennsylvania to Indiana.
Ludwig told Indiana State Police that a Glock semiautomatic pistol he used to kill Michael and Cathryn Borden was under the driver's front seat of his parents' car, according to the affidavit.
Police seized a .40-caliber Glock pistol, a .223-caliber rifle and several articles of black clothing under a search warrant executed Wednesday. Under a separate search warrant executed Friday, police said they found a .45-caliber Colt pistol, a screwdriver, several maps and two Indiana license plates.
Ludwig told police that there were several guns in the car.
"He certainly did make a statement and cooperated with police," said Hendricks County (Ind.) prosecutor Patricia A. Baldwin. "They basically let him talk is what they did."
Police have said the murder weapon was a .40-caliber handgun.
Ludwig is being held without bail, awaiting a Dec. 16 preliminary hearing on charges that he shot the Bordens in their home in Lititz on Nov. 13. Police allege the shootings occurred after an argument over Ludwig's relationship with Kara Borden.
Police caught up to Ludwig and Borden Nov. 14 after a chase that ended with him crashing the car into a tree in Belleville, Ind.
James Gratton, a public defender representing Ludwig, said he was aware that his client had given a statement to Indiana authorities, but did not know specifically what he told them.
Neither Ludwig nor the girl, who has not been charged, was injured in the crash.
Investigators said previously they were treating Kara Borden as a crime victim but that the investigation was continuing.
In a court filing Friday, Ludwig's attorneys said they wanted investigators to preserve evidence in Ludwig's wallet, such as receipts from their journey, so that surveillance video could be obtained. The video would show that he didn't kidnap the girl, the attorneys said.
Except for the fact that she watched him kill her parents and still ran after him.

She is a little snot nosed girl that looked up to this 18 year old these kids are vulnreable and can be taken advantage of very easily, just like the teachers seducing young people, or the famous case of the teacher who convinced her student she was sleeping with to kill her husband, by stating he beat her....

On this site is posted an online conversation she apparently had with a friend on Oct. 17 about her relationship with Ludwig.
In the chat, the friend notes that she wants to have a talk with Kara because “things are getting out of hand.” (Spelling, abbreviations and punctuation appear as they do on the Web site.)
Kara tells the friend, “it doesn’t have anything to do with you...if it has to do with david and me. we are taking care of it we know what we are going to do.”.
The friend says she is worried about Kara and thinks she is lying to her.
“I know what’s right anddddd so does he,” Kara replies, adding later, “this is between me and him. ... don’t try to help. it will only make things worse.”
“so what you want me to just back off and totally ignore you two and let you make the mistakes you’re making!?!?!,” the friend says. “i can’t do that!”
Kara is 14 and Ludwig is 18, the friend notes, adding, “obviously you don’t care nuff that David may go to jail.”
Kara replies, “you don’t know how we feel about each other and how much we want to be with each others.”
The friend tells her she can’t keep it a secret anymore.
“who are you gonna tell?” Kara replies. “Hm. his rents. mine. thanks a lot. ... i though you sid you would die then rat us out.”
The friend says she won’t tell Kara’s parents but that “you two are gonna have to talk to me.”
Kara replies, “don’t get in the middle of it. you have no idea what me and him are going through so jst leave it alone. ... i will talk to him and we shall talk to you.”

I noticed the libs on FOX today are all spinning the home-schooled part of this and saying it's "because they are undersocialized".... these are not my thoughts, I'm just the messenger.
Well, I do think that the thought of home schooled children being 'under-socialized', is a handy thing for many to trot out...Even if a child is under-socialized, for whatever reason, that does not explain why that child turns to violence, in my opinion...
Why a child turns to violence, needs to be explored...I suspect, that violence being used by a child to have his own way, is brought on by a myriad of reasons...I dont think that being 'under-socialized', or 'over-socialized', can explain turning to violence to solve problems...
Lol, that's the way it should be! I don't think I saved it, but there's a 'joke' about how to behave on a date with my daughter. It's really true! Recently told hubby that daughters are punishment for men b/c of the pigs they were! He agreed, lol.
In the case of that teacher who got the kids to kill her husband--they were tried as ADULTS. If I'm not mistaken they were at least 17 in any event.
Just because someone is 14, doesn't mean they aren't responsible for certain actions.

No one could have taken advantage of me like that at 14, 17 or 10. Some people are better than others, some are weaker, some are more prone to acts of evil or intense selfishness.
You'll also note that I put the word "lover" in quotation marks, indicating that I was only using a word for lack of a better one.
But people that have a romantic relationship, esp sexual, are 'lovers.' What the hell else do you call a couple in such a situation? I can't think of any good synonyms, but I acknowledged the seeming inappropriateness of the word.
14 year olds used to get married off and start families. Our society has changed, which is why it's now illegal but let's not pretend that 14 year olds are 'children' in the sense that 8 year olds are...

yes....and no.
But then I'm just young enough to remember what it was like to be 14.
The cutoff, whether we like it or not, is also puberty, though that is not the exclusive boundary.
When I was 11, the landlord's brother said I was 11 going on 40. My experiences in life had shaped me at that point to be as mature as many people much older. That doesn't mean I think law should be based on the 'exception,' only that the human condition is not so easily understood.
In any case, it really doesn't matter what the cutoff point is. If she had ACTIVELY participated in the murder, would you be saying she could not 'willingly' have given consent to murder?
Come now. We only apply these standards of age when it suits us.
Interesting. I keep wondering why good parents would let a 14 year old date at all. None of my kids dated until they were 16.
I believe Kids now a days are corrupted by TV, Internet, Irresponsible Adults an do not have a darn clue of the ramifications of there actions.

I raised my son by myself for awhile before I had married again, he never gave me one ounce of grief he did not have a computer, he was totally into sports and he knew without a doubt if he gave me any trouble, and if the basebsll bat did not work he would be out on his ear in a New York minute.
I wasn't allowed to date that young.
If she was that clueless why did she run after his car as he was driving away and tell him she wanted to go with him and get married.... she would have to step over her fathers' dead body to get out the door, so certainly she knew they had just been murdered. At 14 you know the difference between right and wrong.

When I was growing up, the preacher's kids were some of the worst! ;-)
I would like to know if either of these kids were on drugs though. We as a society are disciplining with chemicals and a high number of these kids killing, were on meds. Maybe that behavior was why they were on anti depressants. Maybe so. It's not excuseable but could we be seeing a reverse reaction though? People don't seem to want to talk about it but I think it's something that really needs to be looked in to.
I think the girl is just as psycho as the bpoyfriend.
