Facts of war

Facts of War Yes, there were connections between Saddam Hussein and the 9/11 bad guys.

What is this baloney that there were no connections between Iraq and Osama bin Laden? Even the 9/11 Commission Report, which I believe is lacking in many respects, includes some useful findings all but ignored today by the media and war critics. Consider the following excerpts:

Page 61:

Bin Ladin was also willing to explore possibilities for cooperation with Iraq, even though Iraq's dictator, Saddam Hussein, had never had an Islamist agenda — save for his opportunistic pose as a defender of the faithful against 'Crusaders' during the Gulf War of 1991. Moreover, Bin Ladin had in fact been sponsoring anti-Saddam Islamists in Iraqi Kurdistan, and sought to attract them into his Islamic army.

To protect his own ties with Iraq, [Sudan's Islamic leader] Turabi, reportedly brokered an agreement that Bin Ladin would stop supporting activities against Saddam. Bin Ladin apparently honored this pledge, at least for a time, although he continued to aid a group of Islamist extremist operating in part of Iraq (Kurdistan) outside of Baghdad's control. In the late 1990s, these extremist groups suffered major defeats by Kurdish forces. In 2001, with Bin Ladin's help they re-formed into an organization called Ansar al Islam. There are indications that by then the Iraqi regime tolerated and may even have helped Ansar al Islam against the common Kurdish enemy.

With the Sudanese regime acting as intermediary, Bin Ladin himself met with a senior Iraqi intelligence officer in Khartoum in late 1994 or early 1995. Bin Ladin is said to have asked for space to establish training camps, as well as assistance in procuring weapons, but there is no evidence that Iraq responded to his request. ... [T]he ensuing years saw additional...

It is the job of Bush and the Republicans to properly educate the public, since it is a known fact that the Marxism Media is an arm of the Democrat Party. The seditious left was able to lie about the war only because they were operating in a vacuum. That vacuum started being filled last week by the Republicans, and if they continue to fight back the public will be informed of the truth, the rats will fail, and the war will be won.

But this does not mean that Saddam was involved in planning the 9/11 attacks

The only ones stating that "fact" is the Democrats and the MSM. Bush never said it....

Commendable speculation. The fact is we are so late on this that a groundswell of public opinion has been allowed to form that is overwhelmingly against the war in Iraq. Bush is to be faulted for not using his bully pulpit earlier and more effectively.

Reason means nothing to those people. They are in a state of blind hatred and mistrust. Turning them around at this late date......will probably take another terrorist hit on the US.....and the probability is the haters would blame Bush and the focus on Iraq for that.

That said - I'm rooting for your prediction - big time!

How about

Flashback to 1998 "US GRAND JURY INDICTMENT AGAINST USAMA BIN LADEN"
Federation of American Scientists ^ | 06 November 1998 | United States District Court

"A U.S. Federal Grand Jury in New York on Nov. 5 issued an indictment against Usama Bin Laden alleging that he and others engaged in a long-term conspiracy to attack U.S. facilities overseas and to kill American citizens ... Additionally, the indictment states that Al Qaeda reached an agreement with Iraq not to work against the regime of Saddam Hussein and that they would work cooperatively with Iraq, particularly in weapons development."

Troll alert.

Mankind finds itself, for the first time in it's history, in a situation where a relative handful of men are desperately seeking the ability to destroy millions of innocent men, women and children in minutes. Do we fight them now or do we wait until they have fried a few millions? Would you say that the chances of them hurting you are small so we should wait, too bad for the unlucky ones?

Read some history. If Europe would have crushed Hitler the moment he broke the Treaty of Versailles 60 million lives could have been saved.

Bush never said Saddam was involved in 9/11. He said he was involved in terrorism. We found terrorist training camps in Iraq complete with fuselages. He paid suicide bomber's families. He harbored terrorist, people who would like to see 9/11 everyday. Why do you want that to continue?

Goebbels (Hitler's Minister of Propaganda) said if you repeat a lie long enough some people will believe it. Stalin just called them useful idiots. They had you pegged. I reeeeally hope you are in High School.

I don't think it is. I think it is at the tipping point, and a good push back against the haters will turn the tide in our favor.

Bush is to be faulted for not using his bully pulpit earlier and more effectively.

I have been labeled a "Bush Basher" for pointing that out ad nauseum on this forum over the last several years. I pray his eyes have been opened and he understands what needs to be done.

I think Bush thought he could duplicate his successful New Tone strategy from Texas in D.C.. What everyone but he could see is that he is dealing with sick and evil people in our own government, and he has to treat them like the rabid dogs they are. He may not mind being a punching bag, but his lack of aggression against his political enemies has endangered the very survival of our nation.

I pray he will now be resolved to fight to the end.

If I know of things they can counter act with, I'm sure thet have figured it out. It's my theory that it is a big rope-a-dope technique. They play politics only in election years.
