At least one Arab television media outlet reported that Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the head of the al-Qaida in Iraq, was killed in Iraq on Sunday afternoon when eight terrorists blew themselves up in the in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul.
The unconfirmed report claimed that the explosions occurred after coalition forces surrounded the house in which al-Zarqawi was hiding.
WASHINGTON, Nov 20 (Reuters) - U.S. authorities are looking into whether al Qaeda in Iraq leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi was killed in a gunfight in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, a U.S. official said on Sunday, but a White House spokesman said that was "highly unlikely."

If that doesn't just say it all. Excuse me?.. um, folks on the Left? It would be good news for everyone considered a member of the civilization of Man.
Where that leaves you, we'll never know.
I thought the standard "thinking" at DU was that Zarqawi was made-up by Rove and Cheney. There seems to be a lot of interest in his death over there for a fictional guy.
Good grief, you went to all those places? You've got a strong stomach.
Here's one of the troglodyte comments...
"Zarqawi has died more than once, then came back to life. The dude is awesome!"
It'll be a dark night if one of their heroes has truly passed on.
Those that believe Z was made up will excuse his "death" as a ruse by Rove to distract from W's falling poll numbers. Some will use it as an excuse to call louder for the removal of our troops. Most will simply crap their drawers and sit in it because they're too lazy to do anything.
Where do I send the Mass card?
Well, FYI, I personally think it would be some very good news for Pres Bush and the world. I will believe the news when I see it, though. Some at Kos say it would be great if Zark is dead.
Now, where that leaves you, we will never know.
Who in the world believes Zarq is made UP? Do I live under a rock? I completely missed THAT one..
If Zarqawi is dead he was most likely killed by the troops. He's to much a coward to blow himself up
My curiosity got the best of me. Had to kill the cat, so to say.
a poll needs help-

DU'ers.
Almost all Americans have heard some about Zarqawi, but unlike Bin Laden there is no grand one thing that one can easily point to in order to say "we avenged this" there is a hell of alot of things, but no one over arching thing that tells Americans why his death was so important. That is why the President giving a Prime Time speech to the nation is so vital (if it is true) to explain the importance of his death to the public and tell the public where we are going to go from here.
Oh God...Please let it be true this time.

"Zarqawi has died more than once, then came back to life. The dude is awesome!"
Frankly, I would like to think that the death of one of history's most infamous butchers would offer those on the right and left a common thread of hope by which to suture our wounds. But, I do not hold out that hope after what I have witnessed over the past four years. For many on the Left, the enemy of their enemy is their friend and hero. Afterall, for those stygian idiots, he is awesome. And as long as it manifests political victory for them, he and his malevolent minions can butcher the innocent as they please.
As for where that leaves me, I too desire for it to be true, and wait to see what will come of such news.
One of these nasties?

how long did it take to confirm the Uday and Qusay takedowns?
