At least one Arab television media outlet reported that Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the head of the al-Qaida in Iraq, was killed in Iraq on Sunday afternoon when eight terrorists blew themselves up in the in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul.
The unconfirmed report claimed that the explosions occurred after coalition forces surrounded the house in which al-Zarqawi was hiding.
WASHINGTON, Nov 20 (Reuters) - U.S. authorities are looking into whether al Qaeda in Iraq leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi was killed in a gunfight in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, a U.S. official said on Sunday, but a White House spokesman said that was "highly unlikely."

I remember reading about a week ago, that AQ might be trying to give up Zarqawi to the Americans because of the huge PR problem he had become. Does anyone else remember that article?
Maybe- AQ was let it leak where Zarqawi was.
Might this muffle Murtha?
Hey everyone, there is a little more substance to this article I posted than I thought.
The Washington Post says "Iraqi and U.S. forces had suspected Abu Musab Zarqawi, leader of Iraq's most feared insurgent group, might be at the house."
"Might" could mean 2% chance for all I know. Still, the fact that Iraqi and US officials thought it was a possibility at all, increases the chance the report is true. More likely than believing a single unconfirmed report in the Arab press anyway, which is all the original article I posted had.
No kidding!
One of their biggest chatting buddies won't be around any more.
No longer will they have their spirits bolstered by the words of their hero.
They'll have to continue their Hate America fest on their own.
His family renouncing him has to be messing with his head.
Another article spoke of him bragging about his family and their influence so we know it matters to him.
His family should have renounced him long ago, as if blowing up Iraqi kids isnt enough justification.
Au contraire -
NYT Headline:
This would be quite bad news for Col. Murtha and Company
: ( boohoohoohoohoohoohoo,
kinda of like the Grinch Who Stole Fitzmas, etc., etc., etc....we're doing so poorly in Iraq, etc., etc., etc.
and quite an early gift for the gentlelady from Ohio.
If it's true, I think his head, or whatever else is left, should be permitted to sit on the gentlelady's credenza.
I, for one, will never forget this woman.
God Bless America and God Bless the Gentlelady from Ohio.
IMHO.
"I'm tellin the ACLU on you."
While you're at it, you might mention to them the "Merry Christmas" in #37.
Why would you believe anything in the NYTimes?
bttt
HAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
I am wondering if zarco blew himself up intentionally due to his family turning against him. That is a big thing in the middle east. He may see his mission as going down hill after the Jordan bombing, thus the damage control tape he released. Now that his family is against him he really has nothing to live for.
Yes the president must do a prime time (9PM) announcement to the nation if he really was killed.
How about that!

A few other alternatives:
"Zarqawi dead; women and blacks hardest hit"
"World mourns Zarqawi Death; Hollywood bidding for movie rights"
"Zarqawi dead; Kerry calls for Investigation of Intel Leak in Matter"
I hope so, but I doubt it. Nevertheless, just in case, I'm going to rush a few cases of Hamburger Helper over there. Otherwise there won't be enough to feed a lot of the dogs in Mosul.
Question - Which would be better, Stroganoff or Cheesy Enchilada?
MEGA IMPORTANT PING.
"Show me the body!!!"
"Islam is a religion of peace!!!"
"I love Arabs!!!"
Seriously, I'll believe Zarqawi is dead when they either produce his head, or actual DNA from whatever was left of the carcasses in that house. Been through too many of these "Osama is dead!" or "Zarqawi is dead!" and even the old "We nailed Saddam with a JDAM!" threads.
