Well I QUALIFIED it:) It was CNN, after all!

I don't know if it's plausible- but IF he's dead- they may want to keep it quiet to smoke out some others- or just sit back and to see what they do next.

Nevermind..that was a Tinfoil Thought...

CNN is reporting this just now and said 'senior officials' were hopeful and that positive ID's were being made. Sorry if someone has already reported this, been watching football all day and just heard it! Please God, let this be it!!

AP PhotoAl-Zarqawi May Be Among Dead in Iraq Fight
Abu Musab al-Zarqawi is seen in this undated photo released by the U.S. Department of State. A man once imprisoned in Jordan with Iraq's notorious terror leader expresses surprise that Abu Musab al-Zarqawi has been able to rise to such infamous prominence. "He had very little education, only medium intelligence. But he was very brave," says Yousef Rababaa. Reacting with outrage to al-Zarqawi's latest threat, to kill Jordan's king, members of his own family, including a brother and cousin, disown him publicly. (AP Photo/U.S. Department of State, HO)

I think it'll depend on whose DNA they're using for an exemplar. Some stuff takes longer than others I think.

Check out Post #761. The timing of this announcement, along with that odd story this morning about al-Qaeda "apologizing" for the bombings in Annan, Jordan last week, seems to suggest that a lot of things have happened behind the scenes in the last few days.

Good. That contradicts what Fox just reported (that it was unlikely he was killed.) As Dog wrote, we'll wait for military confirmation.

1951 July 20: Hussein's grand father, Abdullah is murdered by a Palestinian, and the father of Hussein becomes new king in Jordan.
(snip)

1967 June: Hussein joins Syria and Egypt in their defence pact, and participates in the Six-Day War on the Arab side. The war results in Jordan loosing the West Bank to Israel.

1970 September: Civil war between Palestinian troops and the Jordanian army, resulting in the victory of the latter.

1971: The Palestinian forces are expelled from Jordan. 1973 October: Hussein does not participate in the Arab war against Israel, partly after advice from the USA. 1978 June 15: Marries Lisa Najeeb Halaby, who takes the name Queen Noor.

— September: Hussein does not join the peace process between Israel and Egypt. At the same period, his relations with the Soviet Union are strengthened on the cost of his affiliation with the USA.

1985: Hussein reaches an agreement with PLO on a future confederation of a Palestinian state and Jordan.

1988 July: Hussein cedes all Jordanian claims to Israeli-occupied West Bank, to the PLO.

1989 November: Free elections are held, where the Islamists get 32 out of 80 seats in the Parliament.

1990: With the Iraqi occupation of Kuwait, Hussein works hard to find a solution to the crisis, without going to war against Iraq.

1993 November: Elections are held, leaving the Islamists with less seats than 4 years earlier.

1994 October 26: Hussein signs a peace agreement with Israel's prime minister Yitzhak Rabin at the border between the two countries.

1996 January: In conjunction with the funeral of Yitzhak Rabin, Hussein makes his first official visit to Israel.

(snip)

1999 January: Hussein appoints his oldest son, Abdullah, as crown prince, and dismisses his brother Hassan. This comes at the same time as he is put under intense medical care for cancer.

— February 5: King Hussein is declared clinically dead, but is kept alive artificially. His son Abdullah is sworn in as new ruler.

— February 7: King Hussein dies, and is followed by his oldest son, Abdullah.

There's an idea. Perhaps someone could post, upon confirmation...a link to the song, MY WAY.

Meanwhile how about a little music tonight ... huh ... for all of the lovers out there ... all the people who need a little romance in their life ...

Strangers on my flight
(click for audio)

Strangers on my flight,
turbans they're packin'.
Wonderin' if they might,
plan a hijacking.
They could pull a stunt,
before this flight is through.

Something's on their minds.
I saw them mutter.
What that in their hands?
Looks like box cutters,
I'm gonna kick some ass,
if they make a move.

Strangers on my flight.
Two smelly people,
and they're not talking right;
and in a moment,
I will grab base ball bat;
and that will be that.
Swing like Joe DiMaggio,
and rip them both a new a-hole.

And if they pick a fight,
and try to screw us,
I'll punch out their lights,
just like Joe Louis.
It would feel so right,
for strangers on my flight.

Ratta Tat Tat Tat,
Budda Bing Bang Boom,
Zooma Zooma Zoom.

Send those bastards to the moon....

Well, it could be CNN trying to get hopes up, so that they can dash them and hurt the war effort and Bush even more (rolling eyes)

Either that or perhaps the WH told Fox they didn't think we got him to lower expectations.
