[history]
At least one Arab television media outlet reported that Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the head of the al-Qaida in Iraq, was killed in Iraq on Sunday afternoon when eight terrorists blew themselves up in the in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul.
The unconfirmed report claimed that the explosions occurred after coalition forces surrounded the house in which al-Zarqawi was hiding.
WASHINGTON, Nov 20 (Reuters) - U.S. authorities are looking into whether al Qaeda in Iraq leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi was killed in a gunfight in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, a U.S. official said on Sunday, but a White House spokesman said that was "highly unlikely."

Well, that means "somebody" is taking this particular corpse very seriously.
Killing Saddamn is most important: Until he dies, there remains hope/fear of his return to power. The terrorists and former Party members hope for it, the legitimate Iraq civilians fear it.
The democrats? They fear it's impact on Bush.

Yeah, but Saddam was alive, these eight are toast. They had other physical features to help in ID.

Malone: You wanna know how you do it? Here's how, they pull a knife, you pull a gun. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue. That's the Chicago way, and that's how you get Capone! Now do you want to do that? Are you ready to do that?

The statement is a serious blow to al-Zarqawi, who no longer will enjoy the protection of his tribe and whose family members may seek to kill him. The statement said anyone who carried out such violence in the kingdom does not enjoy its protection. The al-Khalayleh tribe is a branch of the Bani Hassan, one of the area's largest and most prominent Bedouin tribes, which help form the bedrock of support for the royal family's Hashemite dynasty. Relatives hold senior posts in the army and other government departments.Yes, he did get the call.

I dunno, that picture on the left sure looks like one of the Beatles during their hippies phase. But that's sure an odd-looking shot of Yoko Ono on the right.
