Ref #582 Well said. I am shocked at how freepers are even timid and over react to Democrat lies and spin. Some act defeated without a fight, most of the Sunday thread are not that way. This is a fight to the death thread. We are not doing it for our ego, we are doing it for our Children, grandchildren,Etc, and for our Wonderful men and Women that are fighting everyday for our Freedom.

One of the most amazing things I've heard is Democrats still believing Carter is one of our greatest presidents, and that his involvment in human rights after leaving office is a wonderful example of how great he is.

They are trying to rewrite history

Truth is ... Jimmy Carter had an appoval rating of 28 percent

And

The country was in the worst recession since the 1930s, with inflation and unemployment at record levels. But many who had hoped for more inspired leadership after the Ford administration found themselves disappointed

Thanks for posting the proposed Hayworth bill.

How about we move BEYOND talking about possible bills and actually get some legislation in front of the Congress. Frankly this is the whole problem with the "Conservative" movement. They all talk, talk, talk, they never seem to DO anything. Hayword promised this bill months ago. It should NOT just be talk. More action, less words Congress.

I don't know if you are aware of the Army of People like freepers only more quiet and laid back that have been waiting patiently for the Dems to STHU and leave our Soldiers alone. This group just want to go to work and live their lives in Peace and quiet with their families. They are not the activists like on the Freerepublic, but they are Patriots and are mostly busy working and do not pay a lot of attention. They are becoming more and more angry at the incessant attacks on our Soldiers and our Military in Iraq and Afghanistan. They are tired of how the fight in America against the War from the Radical Moonbats is being covered by the Has Been Media non stop. They trust our Military and they trust our President, they see this as piling on and they do not understand the unfairness. Above everything Patriots are fair, and do not like the viciousness of these attacks. A growing number of these Patriots are calling their Congress Critters and telling them how they feel. This is where we come in by talking in Supermarket checkout lines,At Ballgames, at The Movie Theatre, Parties, Laundramat,Shopping Malls, anywhere that people gather just start talking and it will get conversations going that will make a difference. Most Freepers already do this, but we need everyone that feels comfortable doing it to speak out. Our Country depends on it.

My nomination for post of the day!

Who on this thread is a defeatist and surrender without a fight freeper?

Is speaking the TRUTH now considered defeatist?

Wow. I didn't know this was a new rule.

And let me say this. It seems to me that the denial that support for the war and our beloved soldiers is eroding badly is in its own way unpatriotic.

It is living in a dream world of denial.

Several soldiers just died in Iraq. It was just announced. Did they die thinking Americans and politicians in Washington don't support them?

Did they die wishing freepers and people like us were pushing our Republican Congressmen to stand up for them?

But we aren't doing it, are we? Because we don't believe that morale or support is low. So pushing politicians to step up to the plate isn't on the agenda of the average freeper.

It's beyond sad. It's dangerous.

Well said. And how are freepers helping to turn this problem around? We're not. Because most of them are in a state of denial. So we're not being activists like we usually are.

As I recall Ronald Reagan once said "polls go up, they go down". Today the way polls are gerrymandered it pays to have a President who "stays the course and stays focused." We have on in GW.

I agree, the President must stay the course. But he is not the great communicator. He must also keep the American people on board with staying the course. Right now, neither he nor the Republicans in general are doing a good job of that. Roosevelt knew how important it was to communicate, as did Reagan. It's quite clear that the President's domestic agenda is falling by the side of the road. Stay the course, but communicate better.

Well, as someone ealier pointed out to me, the polls are not conducted by the media, but by professional polling organizations.

Yes, but the MSM pays for the polls.

The MSM wants specific results. The professionals are all too happy to give it to them.

They are called push-polls. The questions are rigged, the samples are weighted incorrectly and the results come out a certain way.

There is no more patriotic and lovely family than Mystery and her beloved husband. And when she gets condemned for speaking the truth, it's a sad day for Free Republic.

And the same thing goes for MACVSOG68. People who don't know him, which I do personally, have no idea that he speaks from the voice of experience.

We can all be part of an echo chamber around here and act like cheerleaders, which is fun, but ultimately meaningless, or we can get active and push our Congressmen to start doing their danged job and support our soldiers.

All true, and I've used this. Still, they are now trying to change the conversation to what Carter does with his disease efforts in Africa and election watch organization. To them, it's further proof of his greatness. (Oh yeah, they ignore the pictures of Carter yucking it up with Castro.)

Not nearly as dangerous as rabid defeatism and "Surrender with out a fight" pessimism.

Perhaps I am misunderstanding your post, but if not then I would hardly call recognizing the political enemy and his tactics as dangerous and requiring responses as surrendering without a fight pessimism.

If they do they they will want to start impeachment charges on Bush but they want Cheney out of the way first.

BUT, what does that get them, they don't get to pick the new Veep. Pres appoints and the Senate consents - do they honestly think the Senate will push for putting in a RAT as Veep?

No, but the Senate (both Pubs and Dems) might push for John McCain as Veep. This would kill a whole darn flock of birds with one stone.

First, it would give the Pubs an experienced war hero to tout as someone who could "straighten-out the Iraq mess". Second, it would cut Hillary Clinton's aspirations off at the knees, which would please both Pubs and the Ted Kennedy wing of the Dems. Third, it would get rid of Bush, which is the Dems (and some Pubs) fondest desire. For a great many denizens of the Beltway establishment, it would be a case of something for everyone.

Now, I'm not predicting this scenario, but I suggest you study the history of Nelson Rockefeller to get an idea of how such implausibilities can become reality.

The guy(murtha) is a "crooked as a snake," "has been" and any self-respecting Marine especially Ollie North would have nothing to do with him, IMHO.
As a matter of fact Hannity usually calls Ollie on issues like this. Would not surprise me tomorrow or Tuesday to hear from him.

Bush obviously took the support for the war for granted. He spent most of the year pushing his social security plan. Meanwhile the drip, drip drip of mounting casualties and invisible results on reconstruction. Face it. He didn't make the war his main priority and now he has been caught out.
