Escualidos, traidores, y malandros... his affectionate terms for anyone who doesn't march to his tune.

I know a few of his "malandros" and they are the best people you will ever want to meet.

The (communist) Russians and Chinese are playing an ever increasing role in this, expecially the deep discount by Russia on the weapons sold to Chavez. And when they say 100,000 AK Rifles, suspect at least 500,000 AK Rifles will be shipped. Also, Chavez is getting advanced MiG/Sukoi fighters and Hind MI-24D gunships. I also believe the numbers printed are much lower than what Chavez will take in.

The Russians never gave up Communism fully, and they still fund anti-American and pro-communist movements worldwide. They also have a KGB agent running things over there.

Malandro = maleante?

Basically. According to the dictionary it means "thug" but I always think of it as equivalent to "bad guys" or "evil-doers". I've only heard the word used in Venezuela, maybe others can comment if the word is in general use elsewhere...

I heard Maleante a lot in Panama. Each country's vernacular is so different though...

I see Che shirts around San Diego daily.

I see them around New England daily...even on skateboarding teenagers.

Is Ortega really leading? Wow. Red tide rising. Peru, Bolivia, Equador, Venezuela. Even Mexico, if the commie mayor of MC wins.

Bingo. I don't think my "red reconquista" scenario in Domestic Enemies is so far out. Especially during a national recession/depression.

Don't ever forget about Russian and Chinese involvement. During the Cold war, the Russians had a plan for this. Now that they are teamed up with China, the Russians and Chinese can execute their plan.

Gen. Pinochet...he was superb. Latin America desperately needs more of him.
