Congress Rejects Iraq Exit Bill

WASHINGTON — The House on Friday overwhelmingly rejected calls for an immediate troop withdrawal from Iraq, a vote engineered by Republicans that was intended to fail. Democrats derided the vote as a political stunt.

"Our troops have become the enemy. We need to change direction in Iraq," said Rep. John Murtha of Pennsylvania, a Democratic hawk whose call a day earlier for pulling out troops sparked a nasty, personal debate over the war.

The House voted 403-3 to reject a nonbinding resolution offered by the GOP calling for the military to pull out of Iraq.

"We want to make sure that we support our troops that are fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. We will not retreat," Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Ill., said as the Republican leadership pushed the issue to a vote over the protest of Democrats.

"Our troops have become the enemy"

Damn right we have.

Every terrorist out there knows that if he wants martyrdom, the U.S. military will be more than happy to oblige. We're open 24/7, and yes, we do deliver.

Agreed. No question that Democrats in the military will support the military, even if they vote Democrat.

I'd say Jean Schmidt could write her own ticket with the republican party now. The lady has shown she has what it takes and then some.

Maybe Hillary can be a hero and bring the troops home from BOSNIA where they've been stuck 10 years, after the real lying president, B J, told us they'd be home "by Christmas." That's what Pres. Bush ought to do...bring the soldiers from Bosnia home for Christmas!

Everytime I see Jackson-Lee speak... I think of the Fall of Rome.

LOL! Just blew coffee all over my keyboard; hilarious if it weren't so close to the truth.

Democrats have so few military on their side that they have to resort to getting anyone they can. Murtha may have been a hero, and like McCain I'll give him that credit, but beyond his service he has not distinguished himself.

Even with this, Democrats want to be on both sides. They want a hero to flaunt to voters while they would cut and run from Iraq, trying to recreate Vietnam.

Someone should cruise over to DU...

From the completely wupped, French-like, white flag wavin' RATS -

So.....Big Gulps.... Alright!

So how is everybody this morning? Still in a fighting mood?

Hey, yesterday was an interesting day. Things are going solid for us Dems now. Just keep in mind. We still don't have any power. They have the WH, Congress and the Supreme Court. Things are going better for us, mainly because this country is going to hell. So let's keep heartened that good things may be on the horizon, but we still have lots of work to do.

Because if we do what we know we are capable of doing, working hard and winning elections then that is a pretty big deal. It means no more soldiers will die in Iraq. Less terrorism worldwide. More people will get health care. More will get out of poverty. Better jobs. Better education.

So stay heartened, but stay hungry. Today is a new day and we have another battle to win.

Big Gulps for all my friends!!!!!

In a similar mode, Cindy Sheehan is back in Crawford....

and hardly anyone, including the MSM, is giving her much attention.

[Talk about an ego deflater. By next weekend Cindy will be decrying Thanksgiving Day as a celebration of those evil Pilgrims and Black Friday as just a distraction ploy by Walmart --- like Katrina was just a little wind-- all as just a means of quelling her message . Poor tang.]

I'm well aware of her opponent

Good, because a lot of people, most of them "Journalists" we very very sloppy about their reporting on him. The Dinosaur Media PR image, and the reality of his service, do not match. A lot of Freepers, better informed then most people, mistakingly assumed because he "severed around Fallujha

These were today's, DNC talking-points.

From Tammy Bruce:

I did want to chime in about Representative John Murtha becoming the MSM's new loverboy because he's parroting the Democrat party taking points. I know, I know, it's just shocking when all the Dems line up with the same line, isn't it?

From the AP:

"It's time to bring them home," said Rep. John Murtha (news, bio, voting record), a decorated Vietnam combat veteran, choking back tears during remarks to reporters. "Our military has accomplished its mission and done its duty."...

"Our troops have become the primary target of the insurgency. They are united against U.S. forces and we have become a catalyst for violence," he said. "The war in Iraq is not going as advertised. It is a flawed policy wrapped in illusion."

Shame on him. What a pathetic sellout. But gee, his attitude and statements all sound vaguely familiar. I don't know what Dem party leadership said to him, but the only thing missing from Murtha's side is Edgar Bergen. (my bold)

"Cowards cut and run, Marines never do."

I'm not a Marine, but I've worked with plenty of them. The vast majority of them would be devestated if other Marines called them out with this phrase. I was only watching it on TV, and I felt the temperature in my room drop by 50 degrees when she said it.

Murtha may be one of those rogue Marines that has come to equate the greatness of the Corps with his own ego, and no longer cares about the opinion of his brothers and sisters in uniform. They're a dogmatic bunch, but that's how they define themselves. Once you abandon your post, so to speak, you're not really a Marine anymore. I think Murtha knows that.

If there's still any residual Marine left in him, those words must have stung like a cut with a hot knife.

We cannot sit still either. It's not enough to just beat the Democrats on this, we have to 'keep' beating them down or they will rise up for more attacks. We have to keep them on the defensive.

I'm sorry to have to say this, But when the twin towers fell the statement from the terrorists were that We where weak. They weren't talking about our great men and women of the armed forces (a great fighting machine). They were talking about the political structure we have where there was no monarchy (1 person ruling all). They knew (and maybe support in some way) the in fighting We are seeing now. The Dem's are giving "aid and comfort to the enemy" under the guise of trying to do the right thing (in their mind). I have seen this happen during the communist influence coming out of the college system during Nam.

To the congress, Dem's you lost, get over it !. Lets get the job done now and the troops will be home. DO THE RIGHT THING !
