Rudy Giuliani Trounces Hillary Clinton in 2008 Presidential Poll --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
By CK Rairden Nov 18, 2005
A nationwide poll conducted by Canisius College shows that if the presidential election were held today and former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani was the Republican nominee and Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton was the Democratic nominee it would be no contest.
President Rudy Giuliani?
Rudy Giuliani would trounce Senator Hillary Clinton.
Overall the poll showed the Republican former mayor beating the Democratic senator 54 to 38 percent in the hypothetical battle. The AP reports that Clinton loses among voters in red states, which is no surprise, but Giuliani breaks even in the blue states.
It would be tough for Senator Clinton to take New York State, so an Electoral College poll at this point would likely give similar results.
Neither has declared that they will run in 2008.
Apparently the Bush poll woes do not carry over to Rudy as the Canisius survey shows a high degree of dissatisfaction with the performance of President Bush.
Only 42 percent view President Bush favorably, compared with 55 percent who view him unfavorably.

Even though I disagree STRONGLY with Rudy on abortion and gun control, I would have to take him over Mrs. Pants Suit.
BTTT
Amazing, I could easily live with RG over "you know who". If that's where we have to go, let's get goin'.
This warms my heart.
Rudy would be an outstanding president IF Bush can get one more justice on the Supreme Court. If the Judiciary is doing it's job and living up to it's Constitutional role then the Republican party can afford to allow diversity of opinion on some of these topics, such as abortion, because the people will be in charge of deciding and not 9 justices.
IF we still are in a position of needing a conservative justice on the court, I think we have to hold Rudy to the fire. I think Rudy would be an outstanding president. I don't agree with him 100%, but I don't agree with Bush 100% either. But for Repulicans, the court is the one place where we cannot allow for diversity of thought. It's either in the constitution or its not. And if its not, you have to pass a constitutional amendment to put it in there. Period.
So let's hope Bush can get one more and then.... Run Rudy Run!
I'm skeptical of these polls. Depends on what the sample is. Still, it doesn't hurt Giuliani any.
How true....I have always felt that Rudy could beat Shrillery....I wonder if he is toying with the idea of running
I too am skeptical but it is nice to dream....as long as we come back to reality
My opinion exactly.
We are in a world war, probably the last world war. Rudy will not ask for (or at least he won't get...) my guns...but I do believe he will truly lead us in this war. He isn't perfect, but we don't need perfection.
We need leadership...and Rudy is nothing if not a leader. Unless another leader emerges to over-shadow him, Rudy is da man! He has been tested by fire. He was on the scene when this country was attack. He saw first-hand. He will not forget.
He turned down a contribution from a Wahabbi supporter...he tossed Arafat out of Lincoln Center.
Rudy has earned his spurs.
As far as I know he is for strict enforcement of the laws of the US. If it's a law, we need to enforce it. If we don't want the law enforced, then repeal the law. Period.
I believe that's his two cents.
I could vote for RG, but not McInsane.
I would agree with that. McCain to me is not a bad man. I don't hate him. But he's like the liberal grandpa who wants everyone to get along and no matter how outrageous someone on the left gets with their statements, he will just smile and tell you how he can see how or why they would say that...blah blah blah.
He's on our side whn it comes to the WOT, but I wouldn't support in for CIC.
Yep...if we're all at maximal risk from the Islamofascists, not much else matters.
He certainly won't waste his time trying to get the Republican nomination.
I'll finally vote third party if Rudy Giuliani runs against Hill-Billary.
You WONDER if he's toying with running?!?!?!
Let your wonders cease: YES, he is.
Hurrah....I know who I would vote for...
Why?
Giuliani is less conservative then McCain on almost every single issue.
I'd have no problem voting for either of them over Hillary, but your position doesn't seem to make much sense.
