CAPITOL HILL (AP) -- There's been heated debate on the House floor regarding a GOP effort to force a vote on Congressman John Murtha's call for an immediate withdrawal from Iraq.
Democrats charge the effort is a cheap political stunt and a personal attack.
Instead of offering Murtha's resolution, Republicans plan to reject a similarly worded resolution offered by one of their own to show support for US troops.
Democrats say that's a "counterfeit" resolution, charging it guts Murtha's thoughtful approach to the situation.
The fiery, emotional debate climaxed when Ohio Congresswoman Jean Schmidt, who is the lowest in seniority, recounted a message a Marine colonel wanted to send to Murtha.
She said he told her that "cowards cut and run, Marines never do."
Democrats booed and shouted her down, bringing the House to a standstill.

They don't like hotlinks to the video, otherwise I would have linked it.

To be honest, it does gut Murtha's thoughtful approach--- which is the
'allah'mentary canal of thoughtful approaches.
Tancredo is reciting the progress and benefits of our presence in Iraqi.
She sure does FMC, I saw her on Cable News and she did good!
Col. Murtha:
I applaud your 30+ years of service.
But using the traditional Democratic doublespeak, in your case I support your service, but oppose your cut and run position.

The MSM continues its outrageously loony-left biased language: characterizing Congressman Murtha's tripe as Murtha's "thoughtful" approach? That's complete bunk, and is so over the top with left-wing bias that I am somewhat surprised that even the "editors" at AP let it go.
Until they regain political power again, for THAT is the foremost concern for them at any cost.
If you catch the replay of Brit Humes show tonight you can see it.
PING to comment #42
I just read this about Murtha in an AP article:
"As a Vietnam veteran and top Democrat on the House Appropriations defense subcommittee, Murtha carries more credibility with his colleagues on the issue than a number of other Democrats who have opposed the war from the start."
The problem is...it strongly implies that Murtha has NOT opposed the war from the start...when in fact, Murtha, like so many other Dems, DID vote for the authorization, but quickly went against it. It implies this is a recent change in his opinion..when it isn't. Just another example of misleading MSM
The man is just an old fart.
Granted, he is a veteran....
but that doesn't make him smarter or less a coward NOW!
No I wish I had, it has been shown on various networks. It should be copied and put out there for sure.

Do the Dems not care to hear from The People?

Unless they are the parasites, perverts, and degenerates that blindly parrot the Democrat Party Line, No they do not care to hear from the people.
Sorry but I have to say it this way - The filthy bastards booed and shouted down a message read from a marine colonel?????
Democrats charge the effort is a cheap political stunt and a personal attack.
Note the lack of any attempt to summarize the Republicans' beliefs.
Instead of offering Murtha's resolution, Republicans plan to reject a similarly worded resolution offered by one of their own to show support for US troops.
The wording is such that it reads like the Republicans are rejecting support for US troops.
Democrats say that's a "counterfeit" resolution, charging it guts Murtha's thoughtful approach to the situation.
Again, no attempt to convey the Republican point of view.
The fiery, emotional debate climaxed when Ohio Congresswoman Jean Schmidt, who is the lowest in seniority, recounted a message a Marine colonel wanted to send to Murtha.
What on earth does her seniority have to do with anything? Other than to associate the term "lowest" with Republicans.
The Rats don't give a damn about the Jews!!
except at fund raisers and election day.
I would not be surprised that a future Rat president might convert to Islam as an appeasement technique.
I think that is far more important than any other issue of this event. Not booing the messenger but booing the message and how that it, and it seems to be lost on many.
Excellent observation.
I'll join you in questioning his patriotism. A man of his military experience should know what is at stake now in Iraq. Cutting and running is not an option. We did that in Vietnam--3,000,000 people died in the ensuing years in Southeast Asia.
We cut and run after Mogadishu. We got an emboldened Bin Laden and ultimately, 9-11.
In Bosnia and Kosovo, the Dems practically had us usher in thousands of ground troops. Turns out we were lied to then in reality. 100,000 dead minorities turned out to be 2,000. We killed more than that just in innocent civilians from Wesley Clark's brilliantly run 15,000 foot level bombing campaign.Yeah, the Dems were real hawks then.
But I will question Mr. Murtha's patriotism. His proposal puts our military in grave harm, and will embolden terrorists to strike against us here. They will be able to recruit more terrorists, because they will show that they beat the Great Satan. That puts me and my family at risk.
Benedict Arnold was once a great hero of the American Revolution. He did his own cut and run, and yes, even George Washington questioned his patriotism.
A pox on Murtha and his deathwish for our soldiers and our country.
HEAR HEAR......her and Condi.....
One of the Republicans just asked, How do you redeploy from a war on terrorism? Great question
