Tribe Hints at Alito Fillibuster
Fox News

In what is coming to appear a coordinated attack on President Bush, attorney Lawrence Tribe was just on Fox News, faulting Judge Alito as a 'dangerous reactionary' who threatens Tribe's grand-daughter with his 'far-right views on denying a woman's right to an abortion.' He all but promised a fillibuster on the Alito nomination 'for the good of the country.' Tribe would not make such a prediction without having first consulted with Senatorial Leftists.
This seems too pat, coming upon yesterday's Dem demand that we cut and run in Iraq.
It seems clear that unless Bush is willing to get down and dirty with the Rabid Left, and quickly, he is going to lose Alito and perhaps Iraq. The question is whether he can and will. If the Republicans let disaster fall upon us while they control Congress and the White House, I suggest that there is no future for the Republican Party as it is constituted today. I know Bush is a gentleman in the real sense and that he is not interested in the gutter politics of the Left. But how do you defeat the Left by maintaining a civil manner?

A filibuster will happen....it has to happen in order for Dems to appease their base base. It won't work. It doesn't need to work but it will happen.

No tribe isn't a senator (thank GOD).
He is a blowhard form Harvard Law School. Even he has claimed that Roe was wrongly decided...

Seriously though, I think its great what the Democrats and their allies are doing.
They for some reason constantly misjudge the character of our nation. They are finally showing America what they actually stand for. It's really great they're not hiding who they really are for once.
If it weren't for Democrats, Republicans would lose elections.

I think that would benefit us if the Dems do filibuster - reinvigorate the Republican base going into the 2006 elections and be able to revive the Dem obstructionist label.
To: matymac
Yeah, I know.
it was a rhetorical question aimed at pointing out his irrelevance.

Larry, if we follow your views you'll never have a grand daughter.

Huh? Lawrence Tribe himself has attacked Roe v Wade as a bad decision.

As long as his grandaughter has that right to kill.
For the good of the country... How nonsensical is that?

it has to happen in order for Dems to appease their base base thats a fact, they have wanted this fight and GWB would not give it to them, even with this one it is iffy but too many folks (on both sides) have their dander up and will not be happy until lots of money, time and energy is wasted. In truth, you need that some time, hope we win.

You actually will be hard-pressed to find a liberal who will argue in favor of the actual decision. They're all in favor of the end result, but the decision itself is really quite poor. Even liberals in the '70s criticized it, saying that they were happy with the result, but not the reasoning - it was so bad that it would probably be reversed.

I could be mistaken, but I don't think Tribe has a vote in this matter.

who threatens Tribe's grand-daughter with his 'far-right views on denying a woman's right to an abortion.' Hey Tribe, what about your other grand-daughter? You know, the one who had her brains scraped out at the local "reproductive rights" clinic?

That is an excellent observation. It would also make a great tag.
To: steel_resolve
You can use it.
I would, but as you can see my tag is booked solid for the next 2 months...
