Agency has joint operation centers in more than 2 dozen nations

The CIA has established joint operation centers in more than two dozen countries where U.S. and foreign intelligence officers work side by side to track and capture suspected terrorists and to destroy or penetrate their networks, according to current and former American and foreign intelligence officials.

The secret Counterterrorist Intelligence Centers are financed mostly by the agency and employ some of the best espionage technology the CIA has to offer, including secure communications gear, computers linked to the CIA's central databases, and access to highly classified intercepts once shared only with the nation's closest Western allies.

Very interesting little piece- when source, subject, players, and timing are all considered...

Searching my poor little brain trying to remember if I've ever seen any articles outlining CIA 101, but I've not had enough coffee.

I wonder if some of these foreign intelligence officers and other assets will turn against America in say 10 years time. Or have I become too cynical

I see that Ms. Priest and the Post are offering a reprise of their November 2nd leak concerning the covert CIA prisons. This latest CIA leaking, which Priest & Co. continue to enable,, should be subjected to criminal proble along with the November 2nd leak.

Are there no boundaries for these people?

I don't care what public relations purpose, or whose public relations purpose - WashCompost or CIA - is the reason for this story. There should be another criminal investigation to find who leaked the information to the press. The public knowing this information adds nothing, improves nothing, advances nothing that the CIA has to do.

We are at war - a leak, is a leak is a leak, period and all leaks from our intelligence services should be investigated and prosecuted. All leaks.

That there are Joint Counterintelligence Centers is no surprise, and not a secret. What goes on in them and who works in them would be a deep secret.

My late Uncle Bob, a WW2 hero pilot and no traitor, worked for VEPCO after the war. He needed to know the number of people who worked at the CIA headquarters in Langley for planning purposes. The CIA wouldn't give him the figure. My Uncle then called the Soviet Embassy and asked them. The Soviets told him.

That is called "open source" intelligence, and I suspect that this Post story was pulled from open sources.

Well, since the Compost is determined to harm our country, I suppose we shouldn't be surprised they'd publish this article.

This may not compromise any on-going operations, but it does give the get-Bush crowd more to whine about.

An underlying theme in this article is that Tenet was hired by Clinton and was one smooth operator. Goss was hired by Bush and is a dolt.

"What goes on in them and who works in them would be a deep secret."

With todays news from ABC, I repeat my claim that this leak MUST be investigated. The same people who exposed the existence of these centers have now told ABC details about what is going on there, including "deep secret" interrogations of specific individuals. They flatly told ABC their reason for telling the secrets is they disagree with the policy.

These people must be found and booted out of the CIA. They are not patriots. Anyone in their position has only two choices in dealing ethically with a policy they disagree with. One, they can be sure their objections are heard in their chain of command while they continue to do their job, and keep their secrets, or they can resign and only reveal their secrets if it is not restricted by a confidentiality agreement.

If these people are found they should be tried and hanged for treason.
