The guy likely served his nation with honor. I agree that his comments are very very unfortunate. I still think he's just lost his ability to think clearly. I'd rather think that and see the Marines given this advise by a man with failing health, than to think that a healthy Marine could so embarass his brethren in arms.

Someone should drive this guy back home to his district, and get him some medical care.

This guy served his nation with honor. It is too bad that today he dishonors himself, the Marine Corp and the nation.

The war in Iraq is as much a psychological war as a kinetic war. It is being fought daily in the press, on television and radio, and here on the Internet. The intent of the enemy, Al Queda and others is to break our will. They have, unfortunately, found political allies among many in the Democratic party who see an opportunity for gaining political power by exploiting the casualties suffered in the kinetic aspects of the war.

Our military won the 1st stage when they defeated the Iraqis in the spring of 2003. We are now engaged in what we call the "three block war" wherein we are simultaneously fighting to maintain peace and stability while helping democratic minded people to establish themselves, and fighting to defeat terrorist and former regime "die hards" who still believe they can regain control if they are ruthless enough. They know that they have politically oriented allies here in the US for their psychological campaign. They will continue as long as we are there. They opened a second front just this week when they had some "detainees" complain to the press that they had been tortured by the new Iraqi government forces.

John Murtha has been defeated in the psychological war. They have made the pain of attrition so great for him that he has said he will do whatever it take to get relief, not in so many words of course, but that is the reality of his statements. Murtha, and his fellow Democrats are truly "Sunshine Soldiers" who will be there if it looks like we are winning easily but will run and hide if they are "uncomfortable".

A little while ago I heard Andrea Mitchell state that "many" in the military are against the war and that it was only supported by the "chicken-hawks" in the administration... great psyop tool but while many in the administration did not serve there is no proof that "many" military personnel in the country oppose the war. Her statement was typical MSM propaganda, put a lie and a truth together and voila! both are true.

The "Winter Soldiers" must stand together and fight for right. Do not let the bastards wear you down!
