What to think of the quite astonishing revelation that Bob Woodward was told by administration sourcesnot Scooter Libby or Karl Rove, it seems clearthat Joseph Wilson's wife worked at the CIA, and told a month before what Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald said was the first revelation by an administration source, Libby, to a member of the press?
Here's the story from yesterday's Post on Woodward's testimony, and here's Woodward's statement, printed next to the story on the jump page. Here's the story by the Post's excellent media reporter Howard Kurtz on Woodward's apology to Post Executive Editor Leonard Downie for not telling him about this some time ago.

He makes the whole mess comprehensible!
Yes, an excellent read. I especially like that last paragraph. I'm not sure if I can quote it here without exceeding the permissible limit.
The last sentence was a hoot - "CIA should be abolished"
Could the MSM be getting that one wrong? They're all assuming it's the Bushies.
The MSM would never let you get away with such a hypothesis!! Everyone knows it means the evil Bush & Cheney Admin
Thanks, this is the best writing yet on this subject.
This whole thing is quite silly. CIA info is not secret to the White House. If you send your husband on a mission and he comes back LYING that Dick Cheney sent him, obviously people are going to mention what really happened. Seems to me she is a villain at a tile of war for not stepping forward to set the record straight. And she is such a creep that she still hasn't done so.
No kidding. I am thinking it is correct. The CIA should be disbanded, and another agency (or few) take over its duties.
The CIA has become anti-American. Is that possible?
If that is true Woodward's source can't be Chaney.
Wow! The article speculates that the source was Colin Powell! Now I'm sure Fitzgerald is dying to indict Powell. Not. And I'm sure people can easily say Powell was part of a smear campaign. Not.
I'm starting to see a split forming in the media - one camp that will rally around Woodward and his status as the man who brought down Nixon (this group will twist itself into impossible mental knots trying to reconcile Woodward's and Wilson's stories), and another camp that will believe that Woodward "sold out" to the Bush Administration and will try to "convince" him that it's time to retire ala Judith Miller.
Hard to say which side will win, but I would give the edge to the ones who want to drum Woodward out of the corps and go down with joe Wilson's sinking ship. However, Bob Woodward is no Judith Miller, and he surely won't go that easily.
This is so exciting. The saga of Bob Woodward: From Watergate to Woodygate.
.
Bob Woodward let Bubber skate. I hope Woody gets clobbered over this!
.
Also at stake is the decades old war between the Washington Post and the New York Times to determine which of them is the newspaper of record.
Most liberals would say the Times, but it was the Post that broke the Watergate story, and they've been living in that reflected glory ever since.
Pinch Sulzberger has been driving the Times into the gutter. He is the guy who befriended Judith Miller when she was first hired and evidently has now authorized firing her, if not demanding it. The folks at the Post must see a golden opportunity to finally go past their rival.
"Defenders of Fitzgerald's indictment can argue that its charges that Libby lied still stand. But the differing recollections of Woodward and Pincus could strengthen a defense based on faulty memory, and Woodward's disclosure refutes the timeline that Fitzgerald presented at his press conference."
Well...it looks like Fitzgerald has some splanin to do.
Laura Ingraham's imitation of Woodward is hilarious.
So, why doe the LMSM just ask Mr. Powell a simple question, was it you who was Woodhead's source???????
It is comforting to know that he shares the same analysis of the situation that I do. I admire that man's mind.
