November 17, 2005 -- CALL it "Deep Throat 2." The CIA-leak probe is in big trouble because superstar reporter and Watergate hero Bob Woodward has emerged as a surprise witness for the defense potentially undermining the case against ex-White House aide Scooter Libby.
Woodward yesterday revealed that he's told prosecutors he could be the first reporter to learn from a Bush administration source that Iraq war critic Joe Wilson's wife worked as a CIA analyst but Libby wasn't his new "Deep Throat."

"My concern with this is that Woodward might be willing to lie if it helps bring the Bush admin down, person by person."
A lot of people seem to have missed the fact that Woodward is only talking to Fitzgerald because he was ratted out by a senior administration official. (Probably former.)
Woodward was perfectly happy to let Libby and others take the fall. I'm sure he would have jumped in front of the bullet if it had been a Dem administration under the gun.
Woodward probably only told Fitzgerald as much as he thought he had too, to match what the official had already said. (In fact, I think there are three officials involved.)
The media accounts tried to spin this like Woodward volunteered this information. Far from it.
Also, lest we forget, the Washington Post has known this information since at least Novemember 3rd. And prpobably longer. They sat on it, too -- to prolong Libby and the administrations problems as long as possible.
They are despicable. (But what can you expect. They are owned by the DNC.)
When Woodward learned Plame's name, he told The Associated Press Wednesday, he was in the middle of finishing a book about the administration's decision to go to war in Iraq, and didn't want to be subpoenaed to testify.
You might be correct.
How do you spell COLIN POWELL?
How do you spell GEORGE TENANT?
Go for it Fitz. Indict Powell or Tenant on the non-crime. Or better yet, put these guys in front of the GJ and get them to tell some trivial lie. Then you can really nail them.
The more I think about it, the more I like the idea of a trial.
On Brit Hume's show yesterday, Joe DiGenova said that Fitzgerald had an obligation under the law to review the indictment since the Woodward reveraltion had introduced significant reasonable doubt into the mix.
This info acquits; it's over, Fitz.
Woodward has been a lifelong Republican.
Couldn't Skooter have had the same "faulty" memories as the non-accused? Was it faulty memory or lies? This whole Plame-Wilson fiasco is fraught with lies; seems to me Fitzgerald has perpetrated this bogus mess.
It worked on Martha Stewart, why not Liddy?
Woodward was forced to come out, his confidential source went to fitzgerald and voluntered the information that he spoke with Woodward . Fitzgerald then called Woodward to testify.
These wiil be the same people who were up in arms when Martha Stewart was convicted of obstructing the prosecution of "not committing insider trading"
Woodward has always bragged about his contacts within the CIA. When the final chapter is written in this inordinately stupid affair the name George Tenet will be writ large.
"Woodward has been a lifelong Republican."
First I've ever heard of that.
Link me to some proof so I can put my rumor to rest.
"you have to love the irony of one of the lib media's patron Watergate saints being involved in a way that might destroy the whole house of (marked) cards they have built up."
True and in Woodward's eye this will vindicate ie: return him as a "journalist".
So, Woodward does stand to personally gain.
Pretty much sums up this stunt and the 9/11 Commission.....
Well our President awarded the esteemed George Tenant the "Medal of Freedom". Surely, no harworking, patriotic "Medal of Freedom" winner would do such a thing.
Of all the Bush wasteful spending, open borders, global welfare, Harriet Miers, Africa charity, lack of vetos, new welfare programs, . . .
why did George Bush give this worthless traitor the "Medal of Freedom"?
Nice Guys finish last.
