"Suspicious White Powder" Found At Austin Post Office

Posted on 11/16/2005 8:17:47 PM PST by Rose in RoseBear

Local ABC television affiliate KVUE-TV news led off tonight with a breaking report of a "suspicious white powder" found on a sorting machine at the main post office here in Austin, Texas. (This is the post office on Cross Creek, not the one downtown.) The powder was found around 8:15pm local time. The post office has been evacuated, first responders are on the scene, and the postal inspectors are on their way. Preliminary tests have come back positive for a protein in the powder. More when I hear more ...

Oh great. It's cocaine. Cindy Sheehan and her well aged hippie friends must be back for the holidays.

Anthrax isn't a white powder.

They've been peddling 'mysterious white powder' outside a house down the street from me for over a year now and we can't even get the sheriff to drive past.

From KVUE TV news:

Suspicious substance found at post office

12:09 AM CST on Thursday, November 17, 2005

By KEVIN PETERS / KVUE

Northeast Austin's main post office has been evacuated after a white substance was found on a sorting machine. The post office evacuation occurred Wednesday evening after a postal employee found the suspicious substance.

Preliminary tests conducted by the fire department showed that the substance contains proteins that can be a sign of biological agents.

More testing is needed to determine whether or not the substance is dangerous.

Crews at the fire department classify the evacuation and testing as weapons of mass destruction response.

Offer to let a guy off death row if he will lick it and tell us what it tastes like.

After the Prop. 2 vote, I'll add to your list "the decadent county".

What was Prop. 2?

Prop. 2 was the Traditional Marriage Amendment that passed statewide 76-24% but lost in Travis County 40-60%.

This powder is likely another false alarm, but you never know if some Eric Rudolph-type nutcase thinks it's somehow justified to send something more dangerous.

She had better stay in Caldwell. If she comes to East Texas she will get tarred & feathered....(or hung)

After a complete field analysis, the FBI determined that the white substance unknown to the players was the goal line.

LOL. That's gonna leave an *ouch* mark somewhere!

It's a tradition around here this time of year. If you could see the 'Announcments' from the Ohio list as I long in (not each day, each time!) it's just one after another. ;)

All in fun of course, the rest of the year there are very few jokes, but it's always "That state up north". lol

It's always a good game and despite the rankings, you can NEVER count on the outcome. The teams just fire up for it and anythign can happen.
