A church official said it may be impossible to understand why a couple were slain in their home Sunday, saying "only God knows the purpose of this."
Michael and Cathryn Borden were killed allegedly by their daughter's 18-year-old boyfriend.
Police say David Ludwig shot the Bordens in the head and fled to Indiana with their 14-year-old daughter, Kara Beth.
He was captured there Tuesday following a high-speed chase and was flown back to Lancaster County to face murder and kidnapping charges. Prosecutors may seek the death penalty against him.
Ludwig was jailed without bail and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for Nov. 23. Messages left at the public defender's office, which is representing Ludwig, weren't returned Wednesday, but attorneys planned a news conference later in the day.
The congregation at the Bordens' church planned a Wednesday evening prayer service.
"The Lord works within each of us in different ways, and only God knows the purpose of this," said George Landis, Monterey Chapel elder.
"Only the Lord knows what purposes are really being brought out here. But Mike and Cathy are in a better place."
Kara was reunited with her surviving family members Tuesday after returning to Pennsylvania in a separate plane.
District Attorney Donald Totaro said Kara Borden's role in what happened was still under investigation but added that he did not want "to imply in any way that we believe that she had any role or participated in the homicide."
Ludwig and Kara were home-schooled teenagers from Lititz, a small town about an hour west of Philadelphia.
Kara's 13-year-old sister, Katelyn, told investigators her parents were shot after they argued with Ludwig for about an hour, according to an affidavit filed in court. She said she ran into the bathroom and heard Ludwig running through the house calling for Kara.
The girls' 9-year-old brother ran to the neighbors, who called 911.
"Only the Lord knows what purposes are really being brought out here. But Mike and Cathy are in a better place."
PRAYERS FOR THE FAMILY!

We really needed to know that they were homeschooled. It makes a big difference in this case.

The media holds homeschooling against people.
Yeah, I know. It's like teenage boys in public school have never done anything like this.
Rest in Peace
Michael and Cathryn Borden
My prayers go up for all who now mourn the passing of these innocent victims.
Blessings,

If you want on/off my prayer ping list, please let me know. All requests happily honored.
Have Ludwig's parents shown up anywhere or made a statement? They must be devastated too.
I haven't heard anything about his parents. I thought I'd check out Nancy Grace now on headline news. She covers all the crimes.
That kids needs to be hung from the tallest tree by his nads. There is no reason to do what he did. Like killing her parents was going to solve the problem?
I don't care if the daughter was being a total tramp and even if she begged him to kill her parents. There is no excuse for his actions.
Just guessing but the parents were probably putting an end to their relationship.
Tv news has been speculating that the DA will ask for the death penalty. The only problem with that is we never execute anybody here in PA.

I dont care if they were homeschooled, public schooled, or private schooled...there are obviously disturbed/evil(however you want to categorize this young man), youngsters, in whatever venue they are being educated...
No one should ever believe that all the kids in a particular educational environment are the same...they all come from different family situations, whose familes may have differing ethical and moral views...and all kids are different, handling their hormones and the 'love' lives in different ways...
Actually, one of the points about them being home-schooled, was this was how these two met...at a function that was arranged by a group of home-schooling parents...
Tho I have never homeschooled, I have admiration for those who do...my children went to private and public schools, many years ago..if I were educating little ones today, I might consider homeschooling...
I just dont see it, as others might, that it was so unfair to mention that they were homeschooled...whenever anything bad happens in public school, the public schools are always chastized on FR...just because a youngster goes to public school, that does not necessarily mean he is bad...just because a youngster is homeschooled, that does not necessarily mean he is good...
All public schools, all private schools, all homeschools, have their share of bad kids and good kids...that should go without saying...
Not with Fast Eddie... :-(
I just caught the end of something on Catherine Crier where the Ludwig parents wanted to make sure no police officers were hurt and had asked about the other family. I think there might have been more, but I was FReeping and didn't catch the whole thing.
Ludwig's parents didn't show up in court, correct?
If he's guilty, which it seems, then good for them.
