Chertoff to Hannity: Removing 10~11M ILLEGALS too expensive and impractical
FoxNews Channel: Hannity & Colmes ^ | November 14, 2005 | Transcript

Posted on 11/15/2005 6:51:13 AM PST by DTogo

...HANNITY: Because you had made a controversial statement, and you seem to be backing off of it now, and it was that people that are here illegally, that they all ought to be sent back.

I'm paraphrasing.

And it seems like now you've sort of backed off that position a little bit, because there are million that we estimate that are in this country illegally.

Why wouldn't we send them back?

CHERTOFF: ...I also recognize we've got, according to some estimates, 10 to 11 million illegals already in this country working. And the cost of identifying all of those people and sending them back would be stupendous. It would be billions and billions of dollars...

HANNITY: Why — in that sense, aren't you really rewarding those that didn't respect our laws and sovereignty? In other words, OK, you're saying, you came into this country illegally.

Now that we've identified you, we're going to let you even stay longer and make money, and then you can go back in three to six years.

Why don't we say, no, you're here illegally, you didn't respect our laws, you ought to go home? Why don't we just say that?

CHERTOFF: Well, Sean, you know, it's really an issue of practicality.

I mean, as a practical matter, we've got to identify these people and pull them out of the shadows.

Now, this is not an amnesty. This is not — the president's proposal is not a path to citizenship. It's clearly temporary, and it clearly envisions people who would have to commit to go back....

Wow, going to bayourod route.

You were really fixated on him, weren't you? I have been in this thread for about 2 hours and you have mentioned him about 6 times or so.

I agree..............this is definately a case where we want the throw the baby out with the bathwater. The only way we are going to change the party is make them pay for being unresponsive.

Thanks for the comments Mol. Please remind me when the government had too few funds to do ANYTHING AT ALL it actually wanted to do. Now, aren't Chirtoff's comments absurd?

I'd submit the costs of not evicting are much higher BTW. Many deaths have resulted. May rapes and molestations have resulted. A lot of other crime has resulted. Ask the loved ones or the other victims of the illegal alien blight if there's a price too high.

You're a zero IQ illegal alien loving fool.

Man, you are WASTING all your good pickup lines on me! I am a male. Happily married. Try Bennigans on a Friday nite. I can't be flirted with.

I didn't realize cheap gas prices, unlimited free medical care, and guaranteed SS benefits were illegal.

Never said they were. Is Spanish your first and only language? Its obvious that its not English.

bayourod was the prime example of what you are doing.

Others, like cultural jihad and clintonbegone, were along for the ride, and even more outright in their attacks. But bayourod seemed to be the "spiritual" leader of the FROBL movement.

Frankly, I don't think dane is up to the task to fill bayourod's shoes. Since you've shown an affinity for his same tactics, perhaps you can take the honorary title as head of the FROBL and shill and bloviate to your heart's content. Just think of the ever-shrinking minority of freepers who will look up to you for guidance on how to apologize for illegal behavior!

Your constant bashing of people who want our immigration laws enforced as "stupid" or "racists" while claiming you are not against enforcing our laws will become the stuff of legend! People will write books and songs about you, and small children will make noodle-and-glue on construction paper portraits in your honor!

The rest of the world, however, will just laugh at you.

Since there are no good arguments in support of illegal immigration, the only thing that illegal immigration cheerleaders can resort to in trying to support their position is telling lies, using gross exaggerations, name-calling, and waving around the Race Card.

People like you are part of the problem, because instead of working to solve the problem, you make excuses as to why it can't be solved, and give cover to the weak politicians who sell out our security.

Now you are getting pissy huh? It might surprise you to know that I think building the fence is a good idea. What I reject is all the simple minded all we have to do is build a fence and they wont come or worse yet, all we have to do is go scoop down on all the illegals and ship them back to where they came from like it was a simple operation that anyone that watches football on a Sunday afternoon could manage so why not the President. I want solutions, not plattitudes.

Ya know .. one of the main reasons I gave up on posting on these illegal threads is because many don't read what I post and understand my point or to look at the whole picture to find a solution to deal with the illegal problem we have

Did I say we shouldn't prosecute them????

No I did not

I was just pointing out that he had a point and the cost would be in the Billions to go after 11 million illegals at once

Yes - tyson, walmart, etc. All have hired illegal aliens in one way or another.

And what percent of all illegals are hired by these companies? Damn few. And note I said percent.

" I want solutions, not plattitudes."

But that's what you've been offering.

You're like "chronic loser" on this thread- saying you want one thing, and then turning around and belittling those who have been advocating the same thing. Like you have some sort of uber insight on the whole issue that us 'simpletons' just can't see.

....and waving around the Race Card.

Although I will say again, as I have said in the past, that I have never seen you post anything racist, I will also say that a person who just lurks (as I did about a year) on immigation freeper threads, and doesn't see blatant, overt, hateful racism is like some arab bedouin looking at you with a straight face and saying "sand, what sand?" I have posted concrete specific examples in these threads times without number.

How about shooting each illegal ON THE SPOT caught in robbery, rape, or murder?

No need for a bleeding heart judge, lawyer, and jury! Save all that tax money!

They are not citizens in this country so why should we give them the legal niceties for free? Not to mention the Welfare Program, and free medical care?

I just wondered why you continue to advocate an approach that bascially no other person has ever advocated - passing new amendments to re-state what is already in an amendment that has been ratified.

I am advocating that position because the 14th Amendment to the Constititution is very clear as to who is a citizen and we have over 100 years of legal precedent. The only way to overturn what is in the Constitution is through the amendment process. We have done it before. Remember prohibition.

BTW, if you want, here's more information on why you're wrong.

LOL. I read your link. I don't accept this Locke guy as an authority or his arguments, which were written in 2002. If you really want some authoritative information, I suggest you read the Hamdi Brief, which makes the same argument as Locke and the SCOTUS decision on the case, which did not address the citizenship issue. Hamdi is still an American citizen.

Do you have any idea of what a large company is? Or if they have more than two people they are large in your world. Going beyond the companies, many of the people working in agriculture, or moving lawns, or working as nannys or cleaning ladys are working for individuals, not corporations. If these people want the work done they are going to continue paying them under the table.

OK...background...I'm a Pharm Chemist, and have worked for the largest Companies in the US and World.

1) There were Illegals on site. Note, we were a "secure" facility, I worked on Nuc Med....and there were ILLEGALS running around in the Labs and cyclotrons and Isotope Storage areas! When WE were not there! Does THAT scare you? Because it should! What about the Illegals being caught being employed by Contractors on US Military Bases? Is that cool? Are THOSE the jobs "Americans won't do"?

2) Maybe YOU need some "edjukashun"...if you work, you need to have a W-2 and a W-4...right? When you are hired, you have taxes withheld....THAT is how you cross-check. Oh, and if they are "under-the-table"....isn't THAT "Illegal"? Shouldn't the Illegal Infiltrators "doing the Jobs Americans Won't" have to pay TAXES on those jobs? Or are Illegal Infiltrators exempt from that too?

3)Any "Contractor" should have to report their "employees" status, and the Company contracting them should stipulate in the Contract "No ILLEGAL LABOR"! The Contractor that violates this should be fined/imprisoned/confiscated.

See, your way artificially deflates the wages...but you are OK with that as long as the lettuce is cheap, and the toilet scrubbed, and the lawn clipped!

What you fail to realize is "Illegal Labor=Slave Labor"!

Try and refute any of this....

"Why don't you challenge the court's interpretation of the 14th Amendment through our legal systrem? You seem to have it all figured out or did you stay at a Holiday Inn?"

Is that statement suppose to mean something?

I simply asked a reasonable question, and posted a reasonable comment to the reply. If I had it all figured out ,I wouldn't have bothered you.

Isn't that what is suppose to happen around here?

and I really don't understand the holiday inn thing ..... sheeeesh.
