Televangelist’s Brain, Mouth Elude Other Theories, Experts Say
Out of the controversial debate pitting the theory of evolution against the theory of intelligent design has emerged a new theory, dumb design, which some experts believe may explain the televangelist Pat Robertson.
The theory of dumb design holds that human beings were designed by a superior being, but one who mysteriously designed certain humans in a particularly dumb way.
Enter Rev. Robertson, whom many experts in the theory of dumb design are calling “Exhibit A” in their effort to prove that the theory holds water.
“If you take a look at Pat Robertson’s brain and mouth, and how they work or do not work in concert, you have a fairly persuasive argument that the theory of dumb design is valid,” said Dr. Davis Logsdon of the University of Minnesota, one of the leading advocates of the dumb design theory.
The theory of dumb design began to gain traction in August, when Rev. Robertson called upon the U.S. to assassinate Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez.
And last week, when Rev. Robertson warned the people of Dover, Pennsylvania, that God would strike them with natural disasters after they removed school board members who favored teaching creationism, the theory of dumb design seemed to achieve critical mass.
But even an adherent of dumb design like Dr. Logsdon warns against putting too much stock in the theory, adding, “No one theory could possible explain all the things Pat Robertson says.”
Elsewhere, in a troubling new development for the White House, President Bush’s approval rating is now lower than Nicole Ritchie’s weight.
I live for the day when he's caught in bed with some 14 y.o. Arab boy.
"Elsewhere, in a troubling new development for the White House, President Bushs approval rating is now lower than Nicole Ritchies weight."
She probably weighs at least 90 pounds...
That's not even funny. Is it supposed to be clever?
xlnt
Well he may have a point. How else do you explain the vast quantity of refrigerator temperature IQs currently running the Democrat Party? Howard Dean, Joe Biden, Jay Rockefeller, Al Gore, Barber Boxer, Caldwell. I mean if the current leadership of the Dems is example is the Democrats best and brightest, their rank and file must be REALLY, REALLY, REALLY stupid. It is almost as if evolution designed to breed true for substandard intellects. Have to wonder, are they stupid so they become Leftists or are they Leftist because they are stupid?
Cute.
Yeah, wickedly so.
Clever, truculent and cogent too.
Who is Borowits(z) and why is he here?
As does Dubya.
OTOH, Bubba and the Hildebeast have them too.
And Timothy ("Turn on, tune in, drop out") Leary was on the faculty at Harvard.
So the jury is still out.
Full Disclosure: P.J. O'Rourke said it best, speaking of the humanities: "People do lots of things. We don't know why. Test on Friday."
Cheers!
Always purely amazing how the grossly inept and incompetent always think they are so much "smarter" then everyone else despite their transparent inability to succeed at even the simplest of tasks, being funny.
Okay. Enjoy your joke. It's not that I think Robertson never says anything dumb. My comment is not about defending him. It's about good humor. This just doesn't cut it. And I love to laugh.
The whole Bible-vs.-Darwin arguement is pointless.
Everybody knows that the universe was created after Odin and his brothers slew their father, the frost giant Ymir.
The dome of the sky was made from his skull, the mountains from his bones, the soil from his flesh, the trees from his hair and the seas from his blood. And the great ash tree Yggdrasil binds all the nine worlds together.
All this can be scientifically proven, if the scientists aren't biased against Odinism.
Pat Robertson has a law degree from Yale.As does Dubya.
I thought he had a BS from Yale and an MBA from Harvard.
O'Rourke is one of my favorites, I like the comment.
I have heard Robertson on TV sounding perfectly intelligent, but his comment on behalf of God to the citizens of Dover was way out of line.
I usually go through life blissfully unaware of Robertson, but once in awhile I see him mentioned here on FR. I have an inherent distrust of TV preaching, I guess.
Maybe if you let him have the boy you go to bed with. Wait, better look at the catholic church for stuff like that.
"Marion Gordon "Pat" Robertson was born on March 22, 1930, in Lexington, Virginia, to A. Willis Robertson and Gladys Churchill Robertson. His father served for 34 years in the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate. Robertson's ancestry includes Benjamin Harrison, a signer of the Declaration of Independence and governor of Virginia, and two United States presidents, William Henry Harrison and Benjamin Harrison, the great-grandson of the signer of the Declaration of Independence. Robertson also shares ancestry with Winston Churchill. After graduating with honors from McCallie School in Chattanooga, Tennessee, a military prep school, Robertson entered Washington and Lee University in 1946, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. In 1948 he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. After graduating magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Washington and Lee in 1950, Robertson served as the assistant adjutant of the First Marine Division in combat in Korea. He was promoted to first lieutenant in 1952 upon his return to the United States. Robertson received a juris doctor degree from Yale University Law School in 1955 and a master of divinity degree from New York Theological Seminary in 1959."
Dumb design theory appears to be correct except for the following. The designer is human. The object of design in this case is not the real Pat Robertson, but a distorted media image of him created by an adult professor through the use of adolescent humor and typical crybaby liberal antics.
Now, the average age of a university professor is say, 50. Dr. Logsdon demonstrates the intellect of a 14 year old comedian and a 3 year old whiner. Thus, further calculations reveal Logsdons IQ to be 17.
Guess who the dummy is.
[(14+3)/2]/50 x100 = 17
This article isn't witty or funny. Frankly, its BS!
