The RNC has just e-mailed an advance copy of the remarks President Bush will deliver this evening at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska. Here's a key excerpt:
Reasonable people can disagree about the conduct of the war but it is irresponsible for Democrats to now claim that we misled them and the American people. Leaders in my Administration and members of Congress from both parties looked at the same intelligence on Iraq and reached the conclusion that Saddam Hussein was a threat. Let me give you quotes from three senior Democrats: First, quote, There is unmistakable evidence that Saddam Hussein is working aggressively to develop nuclear weapons. End quote. Heres another one, quote, The war against terrorism will not be finished as long as [Saddam Hussein] is in power. End quote. And heres the way another Democratic leader summed it up, quote, Saddam Hussein, in effect, has thumbed his nose at the world community. And I think that the President's approaching this in the right fashion. The truth is that investigations of the intelligence on Iraq have concluded that only one person manipulated evidence and misled the world and that person was Saddam Hussein. In early 2004, when weapons inspector David Kay testified that he had not found weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, he also testified that, quote, Iraq was in clear material violation of UN Security Council Resolution 1441. They maintained programs and activities, and they certainly had the intentions at a point to resume their programs. So there was a lot they wanted to hide because it showed what they were doing that was illegal. Eight months later, weapons inspector Charles Duelfer issued a report that found, quote, Saddam Hussein so dominated the Iraqi Regime that its strategic intent was his alone. He wanted to end sanctions while preserving the capability to reconstitute his weapons of mass destruction when sanctions were lifted.
Some of our elected leaders have opposed this war all along. I disagree with them, but I respect their willingness to take a consistent stand. Yet some Democrats who voted to authorize the use of force are now rewriting the past. They are playing politics with this issue and sending mixed signals to our troops and the enemy. That is irresponsible.
As our troops fight a ruthless enemy determined to destroy our way of life, they deserve to know that their elected leaders who voted to send them to war continue to stand behind them. Our troops deserve to know that this support will remain firm when the going gets tough. And our troops deserve to know that whatever our differences in Washington, our will is strong, our nation is united, and we will settle for nothing less than victory.
Keep saying it.
Dittos . . . Keep saying it.
Name Names...Mr. President "a democrat leader" ain't doing it for me... The people of this country need to know WHO the traitors are!!!
How right you are.
We need people like her an Ann to run for congress!
That's not his job. He's above that. That job rightly should be done by Cheney (who has balls) and Frist (you doesn't) and the other GOP leadership.
Frankly, it's time the word "liars" gets used by someone in relation to these Dem, uh, liars.
This could get real interesting. The Dems wont like to be made to look like liars (even though thats what they are). A political battle is brewing that will shape this country for decades and im glad to know im on the good side.
We will know who they are in the morning, They will be the ones shouting the loudest that they were lied to.
Good speech segment.
I will be saving this, and printing it out, for use in Fall,2006 as well as this week.
What is more unsettling is the President does not mention names....
One can imagine many wondering and searching their notes trying to make sure they are not the one being QUOTED.
When I think people in Europe think resident Bush is a fool.
So clever.
k.
Is anybody following the CSPAN-2 discussion about a sense of the Senate reolution, and if so can anybody tell me if this is a good or a bad thing that is happening?
Thats what i thought was so funny, when Bush cited Anti-War activists who seek to undermine our efforts, (a while back) without actully mentioning 'Crats. Pelosi went nuts, but by doing so she identified herself as an Anti-War activist who seeks to undermine our efforts
So true!
Let's guess who will be on the Today Show tomorrow!
I'm gonna go with sKerry.
I meant President, not resident...well he does reside in the White House....for many more years, hopefully.
k.
Mr. President, please add, "WE ARE WINNING." And also explain why ... because of our awesome, hard-working, capable, fierce United States Armed Forces! The best military the world has ever known and the greatest force for good on the planet today. Then, you can add some superlatives.
---preferably with an indictment for treason, with bail high enough that he can't meet it---
same as Vets Day
