The Polish Army has chosen Rafael Armament Development Authority Ltd. to supply cannon stations in a $70 million contract. Rafael won the contract when the Polish Ministry of Defense and WZM decided to equip the Polish Army with Patria Armored Modular Vehicle (AMV) equipped with Rafael cannon stations. Rafaels Remote Controlled Weapon Station (RCWS) enable troops to direct and fire cannons from inside armored cars, without being exposed. The cannon station has fire control system includes a high-performance day/night sight, and a laser range finder and a GPS-based true-north finder by azimuth. It can also be linked to external command and control, observation, and sensor systems.
The RCWS is suitable for most light armored high-mobility vehicles, manned and unmanned observation towers, and ships. It can be equipped with a range of light and heavy machine guns and 30mm and 40mm cannons.
Rafael has already sold over 900 RCWSs for land and sea use. In addition to the IDF, the cannon stations are in use with the US, British, Canadian, and Australian militaries.
In the Polish Army tender process over the past several months, Rafael beat leading remote controlled weapon stations manufacturers. The Polish Army will initially equip the RCWS with 12.7 mm heavy machine guns.
Rafael said the US Navy conducted what it called a very successful controlled test of the RCWS installed on a warship several weeks ago.
I believe in good experience of IDF, so I assume military products from israel are well designed and efficient. I hope Polish Army will get good equipment for use.
Sorry, should be Israel. I'm sorry for this mistake.
Furcal?
Win, win.
The modular remote controlled weapon station supports various types of small and medium caliber machine guns including 7.62/12.7 mm machine guns, 40 mm automatic grenade launchers, anti-tank missiles and observation pods.
