An interesting read, I thought I'd share it. Not sure of it's accuracy, it looks like someone's thesis, but had a different viewpoint.

I love your name! I'm an ashamed Canadian as well - although proud of the contributions given by those that fought the intelligence and hot war of the 1930s and 40s. They were real patriots. Clearly their wisdom will die with them.
I think most mature Christians, although we believe in an after life, are obedient to the command to live life one moment at a time here on earth. We are not eager for judgement day or the destruction of our world. Moslems on the other hand, seem to live for some pagan promise of a harem in space.

I've thought for a few years now that the Muslims were playing out their vision of the Apocalypse. It's telling to me that their expectations of the Imam Mahdi perfectly matches the Biblical profile of the Antichrist.

This being will be a Jew and will control by means of a world-embracing conspiracy, after the fashion of The Protocols of the Elders of Zion. In general, apocalyptic believers state that this being, if not physically present in the world today, malevolently influences the course of events preparatory to his eventual revelation. Hmmm, there are a good many "Christians" who think this very same thing. How interesting this article is.

Extremely interesting read....I have a brother who is involved with a christian church that teaches an apocalyptic message, unlike the Islamists, they have no desire to blow themselves up, but they also have little desire to go out and achieve anything beyond staying sin free either before the end of days!
The point being, apocalyptic beliefs demean the value of life itself.
