In God We Trust has only been on money since 1954. How did we ever manage before then?

Didn't you know? The country was a communist and/or fascist dictatorship until then. Putting "In God We Trust" solved all of our problems.

Ah. Is THAT why we had to include the words, "Under God", to the Pledge of Allegiance, because it was written by a socialist?
