Bush WMD Response to Target Bill Clinton

One of the centerpieces of President Bush's counter-offensive against his Iraq war critics will be a Republican National Committee commercial focusing on a speech given by former President Bill Clinton.

U.S. News & World Report says the RNC ad will spotlight Clinton's Feb. 17, 1998 speech on Iraq, where the former prez "guaranteed" that Saddam Hussein would use his weapons of mass destruction.

"Let's imagine the future," Clinton said seven years ago. "What if [Saddam] fails to comply [with U.N. sanctions], and we fail to act, or we take some ambiguous third route which gives him yet more opportunities to develop this program of weapons of mass destruction and continue to press for the release of the sanctions and continue to ignore the solemn commitments that he made?"

Clinton warned: "He will conclude that the international community has lost its will. He will then conclude that he can go right on and do more to rebuild an arsenal of devastating destruction.

"And some day, some way, I guarantee you, he'll use the arsenal."

Other soundbytes from Democratic flip-floppers will feature WMD warnings from Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.

I'm wondering if this didn't happen sooner because the GOP wanted to see just how many Dems where willing to jump into the pit.

"I agree, but if Bush was a real fighter he would of done this a long time ago. It would of been apart of who he is. Now, its like, ok I better do something because of my poll numbers are dropping."

Bush is going to do this during the run up to the 2006 elections. It's called the "bait and switch". If we can do a better job of turning out to vote, we won't have another blowout like the California election.

"Are you saying that Bush can't do this? Sort of lends credence to those that say Bush is a puppet of others."

What do you expect him to do? Run the county at every level and campaign for Republicans in the 2006 elections without any advice or help.

Rove's job is to develop election strategies that why the dems are after him. He continues to advise the President on the setup and the knockout. I think the timing of Bush's rebuttal is going to be a nice setup for the 2006 elections.

Yes! It is about time. I want to see ads with sound bites of all the Main DNC LIARS supporting the war with Rockefeller's sound bite in the background claiming that he doesn't read the intelligence reports before he votes for or against the war.

It's about damn time Bush started fighting back!

He ran out of other people's money to buy off his opponents and it wasn't working anyway.

The Democraps make the worst politics imaginable. They are actually treasonous the way they talk out of both sides of their mouths on important issues like Saddam and WMD.

If Clinton could, he would send Bergler to steal any record of that speech.

Sure, Laz, but this rope-a-dope thing has helped to crystalize opposition to President Bush as weak and ineffectual. This has hurt the war effort and made him begin his rebuilding from a much lower point than otherwise.

I don't think that rope-a-dope should be the only response that the Republicans can ever make. Sometimes they should punch back hard, and fast.

BZZZZZTT!!

Not your fault, I know, but Madison is EAST (and very leftwards, too) of Phoenix. :-)

It's about damn time Bush started fighting back!

One of the best ways to win is to let the other side tell its lies until the moderates and liberals all believe them. Then show with the absolute proof of their own words that they are lying.

It is very effective. If the left says Bush lied and then Bush immediately proves that that he didn't lie it is no big deal. It is a minor incident.

The worst possible situation for a liar is for someone find out he has believed a liar. The person lied to is angry with himself for being gullible but he takes it out on the liars.

Telling lies is one thing... Getting caught by those who believed the liar is quite another.

The effect on the left is devastating.

The greatest skill in politics is knowing when to spring the trap. The team of Bush and Rove are very good at timing. Ask Al Gore and John Kerry how good they are.

Although I do agree that Bush needed to be more responsive, for goodness sakes, he has a world to run...where was the RNC and the Republican Congressmen..they could damn sure help!!

Double what I had said earlier!

Play the " Dem-Game" of wasting time answering them and that is what it LOOKS like --and the press will CARRY that message too!--" Bush FORCED TO respond to Dem attacks."
