Police in the French city of Lyon have used teargas to disperse youths throwing stones and attacking cars, the first rioting in a major city centre.
The unrest, which followed more than two weeks of violence in France's poor suburbs, occurred hours before a curfew for minors came into force in Lyon.
In Paris, a ban on public meetings has ended, with no reports of unrest.
Police overnight said the situation across France was "much calmer" than on previous nights.
More than 370 cars were burned overnight, down from 502 the previous night. A further 212 people were arrested.

Why so secretive? Who are these people who are privately telling you it's more? Are they on the scene? Why are they not going public? Why are they telling you this and not the media?
Sorry for the inquisition but one of my pet peeves is people who come here and quote "anonymous sources." Anybody can post here and say that they are getting "inside information" to make themselves look more important. Not saying you are necessarily one of those persons but this "inside information" is absolutely meaningless to this discussion unless a) you are an established source or b) the information you are getting is confirmed through other sources.
Maybe this is a conspiracy by GM to boost sales. Loius [they blew up a levy!] Fara-Con ought to look into this with his bus-drowning buddy, Mayor Nagin.
Your english is fine, you should hear some of my friends.
Curfew fails to stop French riot
-----Hey. Here is a newsflash for you. "These people do not obey laws and rules or they would not have been doing it in the first place!"
Welcome to FR. Your post is quite interesting.
BTW, are you a fan of Herge's TinTin comic books?
Thanks for the post, and no, I'm wasn't attempting to increase my importance - it was just a comment. If you look back through my various scorecard posts, some replies have quoted over 9K.
Isn't it Rosalie's breakfast time yet?
Charles Martel
Jacques Guimauve
No problem. It's just that my radar goes up whenever somebody claims to have "inside information" on something and then has nothing to back it up. There are a lot of poseurs out there who try to make themselves seem important. Not that I think you are one of them but I do like to sniff them out.
All of my powerful unnamed friends agree with you. They are watching you and approve of your work.
Can you give us the burnt-car-to-date total?
Do you have all the stats?
Number of arrests?
Number of injured "freedom fighters."
Number injured cops.
NUmber of injured innocent citizens.
Property damage $?
Number of burnt: schools, businesses, residences?
Come to think of it, if you have all that, it's probably worth it's own thread. Thank you.
A while back, I was reading that cars with Islamic stickers would not be touched. The Muslims are engaged in ethnic cleansing, convincing any remaining non-Muslims in their enclaves that it would be a good idea to move. Torching the transport of non-Muslims is a pretty convincing motivator that it's time to leave
After the infidels are gone, attention will shift to those deemed insufficiently supportive of radical Islam
"BTW, are you a fan of Herge's TinTin comic books?"
I read them when i was a child. Yes i like it.
And now Tintin have new adventures : to the Soviets. Where i live. So "Tintin chez les soviets", 'cause France act like an ex-URSS country. The book isn't finish yet. But soon...i think in 10 or 15 years, when France disappear for "Frankistan" or maybe reborn.
The Muslim rioters are not torching their OWN cars
I assume you are in France. Do you think French attitudes about muslims will change in the near future? I cannot imagine that the French people keeping quiet.
