Rino/McCain--once again a huge problem.
From your mouth to Gods ears. I got to admit there sure are a lot of back bencher's out there. I was looking at who voted for or against the Partial Birth Ban. Sure a lot of Senators who I have never even heard of.
Agreed. See post #192 which I think is a hoot. It could make a good ad IMHO.
Also, an ad showing sound bites of Hillary, Kerry and Kennedy supporting the Iraq war in late 2002. In the background the sound bite of Rockefeller admitting that he didn't read the intelligence reports?
There is so much material to go on the offensive. We should start NOW!
See summary charts on pages 15 & 16 ...

Do you keep doves? I keep pigeons
" Able Danger identified threat data in Yemen related to the Aden port in a brief given on October 10, 2000. The attack on the USS Cole in Yemen occurred two days later and may have been preventable. 17 people died as a result of the attack.
· Commander Kirk Lipold, the commanding officer of the USS Cole at the time of its attack, told Weldon that he had three options for refueling venues, was never briefed on any intelligence indicating that there might be danger at the port of Aden for an American naval vessel, and that had he been told, he would have refueled elsewhere.
Weldon also related a bizarre development that occurred last August, after the Able Danger story first broke. 9/11 Commissioner Jamie Gorelick, whom he has never met, called my office and told my Chief of Staff to tell Congressman Weldon that she had done nothing wrong. Senate Judiciary staff has informed me that Ms. Gorelick made similar calls to Senator Specters staff with the same message.
To date, Weldon has made no accusations of specific wrongdoing against any Gorelick or any other individual.
Meanwhile, as has been chronicled here, DIA officials have smeared LTC Shaffer and effectively destroyed his career since he volunteered Able Danger facts to the 9/11 Commission staff. What kind of signal do we send when a decorated intelligence officer has his career sabotaged as retribution for telling the truth? demands Weldon.
The 9/11 Commission did not do its job, did not complete its assignment, either through gross incompetence or deliberate omission. If the evidence were to point towards some sort of cover-up, the American people would be outraged beyond description. Weldon and others knowledgeable about the affair say that Able Danger principals such as Shaffer, who have thus far been effectively muzzled by DOD, must be allowed to be heard in order to finish the work the 9/11 Commission left undone, either accidentally or intentionally.
Instead their testimony has been blocked by DOD at the highest levels, most notably by preventing them from speaking at recent Senate Judiciary Committee hearings.
It is outrageous that DOD gagged witnesses who were all prepared to testify in open session, says Weldon, who as Vice Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee is accustomed to more respect and cooperation from the defense establishment. Apparently the Department of Defense does not share my deep respect for the Committee and its authority to serve the American people through effective oversight.
DIA spokesman Commander Terrence Sutherland denied that DIA had smeared or gagged LTC Shaffer. Show me the gag order, says Sutherland, who maintains that it is DOD, and not DIA, which is at the center of the Able Danger affair. And in response to my repeated queries, Commander Gregory Hicks, spokesman for DOD, could only tell me that, thus far, I am not getting any responses yet. When I do, Ill let you know.
==================================
Commander Sutherland: show me where your agency was given and complied with orders to cooperate fully and stand behind and WITH your professional officers/employees in search of THE TRUTH??

FYI, Weldon is openly mentioning the name of Dr. Philip Zelikow, now Counselor to the State Dept., as a possible link to the blockade of Able Danger truth telling and seeking.
His bio:
Counselor of the Department
Philip Zelikow, Counselor of the Department, is a principal officer who serves the Secretary as a special advisor and consultant on major problems of foreign policy and who provides guidance to the appropriate bureaus with respect to such matters.
The Counselor conducts special international negotiations and consultations, and also undertakes special assignments from time to time, as directed by the Secretary. Dr. Philip D. Zelikow was appointed Counselor of the U.S. Department of State in February 2005, where he serves as a senior policy advisor on a wide range of issues to the Secretary of State.
Before his appointment as Counselor, Dr. Zelikow served as the Staff Director of the 9/11 Commission.
Formerly a trial and appellate attorney in Houston, Zelikow served as a career foreign service officer overseas, in the Department, and on detail to the NSC staff. He then taught at Harvard University and at the University of Virginia, where he was, until his current appointment, the White Burkett Miller Professor of History and Director of the Miller Center of Public Affairs.
A former member of the Presidents Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board (2001-2003), Dr. Zelikow also directed the privately-sponsored Carter-Ford Commission on Federal Election Reform, which led to the Help America Vote Act of 2002. Dr. Zelikow received his BA in history from the University of Redlands, his JD from the University of Houston, and his MA and Ph.D. degrees in international law and diplomacy from Tufts Universitys Fletcher School.

Where's my absolute fave, Rummy, on this? Where's another fave, Condi, on this? (I admire them both profusely.) Where's Negroponte on this?
The inmates truly are running the asylum
Yes, the ones that live on "snippets & soundbites"
"So they deserved to be burn to death?"
Wow! Did I say that ..?? NOOOOOOO! I DID NOT!
By a nearly 2-to-1 margin, Americans support U.S. interrogators doing "whatever it takes" to get information from terrorist suspects who might be planning attacks against U.S. interests. An NBC/Wall Street Journal poll shows 55 percent of those surveyed support the current policy that allows tough interrogation tactics - while just 30 percent say that techniques now being employed by U.S. intelligence go too far.
So how does the poll driven Dinosaur Media spin this little bit of data?????

Thank you, again...seems Mr. Clinton had MORE confirmed than Bush...but, I am sure that Howie knows that, doesn't he??
MR. RUSSERT: When Bill Clinton was president, he nominated two people to the Supreme Court, Ruth Bader Ginsberg, who was general counsel for the ACLU part of her career, and Stephen Breyer, who worked for Ted Kennedy. And look at these votes, Dr. Dean, overwhelmingly approved, 96-to-3 and 87-to-9. Republicans, even though they disagreed philosophically with those two liberal jurists, said the president has nominated them and we'll support them because he won the election and he has a right to put people on the bench who reflect his judicial philosophy. Why shouldn't the Democrats have the same respect for President Bush's outcome?
DR. DEAN: Well, that is, in truth, not what the Republicans did. In those particular cases, they made those votes. They stonewalled hundreds of judicial appointees that Bill Clinton made, hundreds of them that never came up. They wouldn't even take them up. The Republicans wouldn't even give Harriet Miers a right to an up or down vote. How dare they make a case for an up or down vote on Judge Alito?
MR. RUSSERT: But they did support those liberal jurists.
DR. DEAN: I don't care who they supported. They killed hundreds of nominations in the Supreme Court. That is the most hypocritical nonsense. As you know, hypocrisy is a feature of Washington's life daily. That is nonsense. They get no credit for voting for Ruth Bader Ginsberg and Justice Breyer after killing hundreds of Clinton nominations and killing Harriet Miers. How dare they have--I saw an ad the other day. How dare they have an ad saying, "We want an up or down vote on Judge Alito" when they wouldn't give one to Harriet Miers?
Robert KKK Byrd?
People don't seem to realize why 1998 is so important. The intel we had at the time stopped there because the inspectors from the UN left Iraq.
While we were getting reports about this and that, I don't believe we had enough intel on the ground in Iraq to really substantiate what Saddam was doing.
Because of that .. I believe all those trucks that pulled out of Iraq and into Syria in the days leading up to the Iraq war - were loaded with all the equipment and supplies needed for a WMD program. Powell talked about that .. and Israel's satellites picked up the trucks and they sent us the pictures.
I believe it will be found - accidentially or on purpose - and it will be a stunning revelation that the media can no longer hide behind.
how does that saying go?
give credit to the broken clock, even it is right at least 2 times a day?
Hmmmm?? Those would be clever time slots!! LOL!
