CHICKEN LITTLE AT NBC: DEAN DUCKS APPEARANCE WITH REPUBLICAN
Sun Nov 13 2005 09:17:22 ET

Dem Chair Dean Ducks Last Second Joint MEET THE PRESS Appearance With GOP Chair Mehlman

The DRUDGE REPORT has learned from exclusive sources that Democrat Party Chair Howard Dean turned down Republican Party Chair Ken Mehlman’s last minute offer to appear together on NBC’s MEET THE PRESS this morning.

Moments before taping was to begin with host Tim Russert, Mehlman asked Dean outside the NBC studio’s green room: “There’s still time for us to go on together Governor.” Dean declined with a shrug of his shoulders and an uncomfortable cackle and then proceeded to walk away into the green room.

DRUDGE has learned MEET THE PRESS producers have been working to get a head to head Dean/Mehlman appearance on the program since Dean was named chair back in February. Dean and his handlers have repeatedly turned down the request. The former Vermont governor only agreed to do this week’s program if they appeared in back-to-back interviews.

"The author of the Demos slime memo on Iraq Intellegence vrs the Republican in charge of the Intellegence Comitte. Hope Roberts has the guts to slap Rockefeller down hard."

Is Rockey a lawyer??? I do not think he wrote this memo, rather it suggests the former co-president's mentality, method and means, and the "Intel" committee was the location for its application.

I wish the Reps would not be as defensive about our invasion of Iraq. Even Roberts said that he would have voted differently if the intelligence had been better.

After 9/11, the containment policy for Iraq (no-fly zones and sanctions) was no longer viable in the WOT. Iraq had been on the State Department list of state sponsors of terrorism for over a decade; they harbored known terrorists including one of the masterminds of WTC I; Saddam had used WMD against Iran and the Kurds; Iraq had tried to assassinate Bush 41; Iraq intelligence had known contacts with AQ; Iraq had ignored 16 UN resolutions; and Saddam was clearly playing games with the UN inspectors and being uncooperative. How could we leave this guy in power after 9/11?

The Oil for Food scandal was confirmation that Saddam had the means to either develop his own WMD or buy them from places like Pakistan and North Korea. We would not have learned about the extent of this scandal without the invasion.

2-5 inches of snow? Whereabouts in MN? Over here in Wisconsin we're seeing temps in the 30s, wind, rain. Was going to sit in the deer stand today but instead I'll watch both the Vikings and Packers lose their games. As for Sunday morning talk shows, Dems hammer Bush, Republicans defend him. MSM only gives adverse news, never any positives. Ho hum....

Timmy the Buffalo from Buffalo, does not even try to hide his Liberal Democrat credentials. He should step down from this show until the Libby matter is settled. His usual replacement is no better because she has shown herself to be a big liar saying that she misspoke about everyone knowing about Valerie Plame working at the CIA. They might have to find someone like Dan Rather or Tom Brokaw to substitute for Timmy if he does the right thing and steps down temporarily. It could be scary one day if Timmy is still there and is interviewing Bill Richardson for the full hour, it would be like looking at two talking relief maps. Yuk! They need to buy dermabrasion material in bulk.

Dean says that there was evidence removed from the intelligence given to the Congress. Calls the Admin corrupt and that the Admin is lying on the deficit. He is way over the top.

They were, (more respectful) 30 years ago.

I remember that well.
Their egos, and the probability of having their face on the television, have helped to distort the "news". They are disgusting!

Even Roberts said that he would have voted differently if the intelligence had been better.

Now, that's helpful. Is there one Republican, other than the President, with a backbone?

I missed Rasmussen, but he's not much different. What people have to realize is a pollster can say anything without having to be correct until the last poll before an election. Their reputation is based on that one last poll. With all the others, they can claim something changed when they are shown to be wrong.

I would classify poison gas as a WMD, wouldn't you? Hussein definitely used it on the Kurds, and our troops HAVE found some, so he DID have WMD.

The President decided to go to war with Iraq right after 911

The 9-11 omission commission report says otherwise.

The Dimms are convincing the American people that we can never trust intelligence again, and never be sure enough to go to war. Amazing.

I disagree, Rasmussen's polls never swing widely like the others. BTW, Bush is at 46% again for the second day, which translates into 48-49 with likely voters.
