I wish the Reps would not be as defensive about our invasion of Iraq. Even Roberts said that he would have voted differently if the intelligence had been better.

After 9/11, the containment policy for Iraq (no-fly zones and sanctions) was no longer viable in the WOT. Iraq had been on the State Department list of state sponsors of terrorism for over a decade; they harbored known terrorists including one of the masterminds of WTC I; Saddam had used WMD against Iran and the Kurds; Iraq had tried to assassinate Bush 41; Iraq intelligence had known contacts with AQ; Iraq had ignored 16 UN resolutions; and Saddam was clearly playing games with the UN inspectors and being uncooperative. How could we leave this guy in power after 9/11?

The Oil for Food scandal was confirmation that Saddam had the means to either develop his own WMD or buy them from places like Pakistan and North Korea. We would not have learned about the extent of this scandal without the invasion.

Now, that's helpful. Is there one Republican, other than the President, with a backbone?

I would classify poison gas as a WMD, wouldn't you? Hussein definitely used it on the Kurds, and our troops HAVE found some, so he DID have WMD.

Exactly. The MSM puts on the "tunnel vision" glasses on when they report these stories. They refuse to stand back, look at the "entire" picture. This is what most Americans are fed day in day out. These "opinion polls" are just a measure of "snippets & sound bites"

And of course we know which "snippets & sound bites" are fed to the public.

The only way our reps are going to stop being defensive is if we start contacting them and shame them into doing what's right.

I don't contact other congress people .. just those who represent me. I've never voted for them (because they're dems), but I love giving them an earful and letting them know - I know the truth about what's going on.

I get so discouraged sometimes .. but then I get mad and I start making a few phone calls and I feel better.
